Not brand or make, but major type of gun.
For example:
Shotgun, handgun, rifle, or "other".
I've been shooting handguns over 20 years, and for short range unsupported standing up I am most confident with handguns. I also control recoil best from a handgun--for example most .44 magnum loads in my Bisley don't phase me at all. While I can shoot a scoped rifle better than any handgun when supported (bench rested), I have a hard time shooting rifles unsupported standing up with regular sites. Mostly because they are heavier and tend to shake more--maybe due to improper stance?
Shotguns kick my rear. To me, the recoil of a 12 gauge is unpleasant. I can do okay with bird shot in a heavy shotgun for skeet shooting, but I still get bruises. I attribute this to lack of experience, since I haven't had a lot of long gun hours in. Last skeet shooting session I only hit one target, and I was humbled (in the past I use to get close to a 50% hit rate with skeet).
So, at this point, I am most proficient with handguns, with rifles gaining ground:
Ranking from best to worst:
Handguns (my specialty)
Rifles (second, getting better and better)
Shotguns (very distant third)
