What have you done in the reloading room today

Gonna need apic of that fly fishing rod/reel. My grandpa used to make those also back in the 30's[?]. Those were all gone before I even heard about 'em.

Here you go, sir. My grandfather's bamboo fly fishing rod/reel hanging in my cabin. About 100 years old now. It is a monster long rod. I had to hang the final length above it under the Walleye. As reference, the rod/reel underneath is a modern day full size Scientific Angler, so my grandfather's rod is about 2 feet longer than a standard modern rod. The grip is cork and it is deteriorating, but I have treated it and it will continue to last well past my lifespan. I believe the reel knob is ivory.

Just some more organizing with basic cleanup and final touches on my relocated reloading bench, now in the garage. I finally (like 30 years later) bought RCBS dust covers for my Uniflow and the Rock Chucker. I am getting another Rock Chucker cover for the Piggyback progressive adapter that sits on a storage stand behind the Uniflow.

I also installed an under shelf 110 volt LED strip. It really illuminates the bench surface. When seated at the bench, my eyes are shielded from the strip by the shelf, so it works well with no glare directly on my eyes. The light is just what it needed;

Put some e40 on it.

No problem. No make is obvious. I have looked over the decades. There might be some kind of brand on the reel hub. I have the original fly line on the reel. It looks like cord compared to modern line.

Sorted and put away the brass I tumbled a couple days ago. Put a new QD muzzle device on my .300 BO, the old one didn't seem to lock up very tight, this one feels like it has much better lock up. Maybe a "not all the way locked up suppressor" is why I was having problems getting under 2" groups, or anything consistent with it. After that I sized some Norma .223 brass to start working up some 77gr smks with 8208XBR & N140 in my new WOA barrel. Also sized some .300 blackout while I was there.

I put another coat of paint on my support thingys. And pulled together the stuff for a test run of power pistol in 9mm: still haven’t decided between some HAP or free XTPs. On aside note, I’m getting sick of this plastic powder measure really quick! (But shorter hours and the 66.6% pay with work comp makes me be more cautious spending $$$… still better than not working!!!) I shall soon have the “ufo” light and a dramworx hopper on the way.

New annealer came early this week. When unboxed the front face plate was broken during shipping. After emailing the manufacturer they replied that they didn't sell the face plate but gave me an Amazon link to purchase a complete new controller. Controller due by UPS tomorrow. Manufacturer has already reimbursed me. Torch tips, hoses, and fittings due by UPS tomorrow.

It's a very nice unit for the money. Looking forward to annealing my first set of cases.

I just gave RCBS and Midway a few dollars online. I tried Missouri Bullet Company's Hi-Tek coated 45 LC box of 500 and some Starline brass. I also needed cleaning media and polish. I have no idea what happened to the supply I had. I must have tossed it for some reason many moons ago. I got another primer catch tray for my Rock Chucker while they are available. And a cover for my Piggyback progressive attachment.

When I moved my reloading bench to the garage and dug out all the old boxes, I found this box of 1,000 10mm (for my 40 S&W) "Copperized" bullets from National Bullet Company that I did not know I had all these years. Thank goodness they are not 9mm. I have 9mm components coming out of the wazoo, and currently no 9mm firearms.

Looks like there may be some 40 S&W reloading in my near future.

Cleaning up my reloading plans. I’ve had some prepped brass for a 223 load on the bench for 3 months. Last weekend I prepped enough to finish. Today I finally started loading. 52 grain 223 Match Burner over TAC powder for my 20” FN upper from PSA. Hopefully I can finish the rest tomorrow.

This gave me a chuckle. I have never seen it before.

I was on Amazon looking for vintage metal signs for my reloading area. I stumbled across this one.

Is it wrong that I want one?

Woke up with a sinus infection - too many hours in the dry-cold of the server room + allergy season = Yuk! - so I took some aspirin and sat down to load something stupid simple: .38Spl.

158gr. Valiant LSWC, French Gevelot brass, SyA SPP, 3.8gr. Clean Shot. 1 box/50rnds.
"Should work most of the time."

Full disclosure. I ordered the large size (12" x 16") for above my reloading area soon after I posted that pic. Even SWMBO chuckled when she saw that pic. And she pointed out something I had missed. She said, "Too funny. His hat is just going over the Cliff".

I hope you feel better. Sinus infections and sinus pain are no joke. Been there.

Good luck with the reloads. "THEY USUALLY WORK" :D

Got bored so I decided to engage in some retail therapy. Bought a box of Speer 158gr swaged lead round nose and a box of Hornady 158gr swaged lead round nose. 800 total at $0.13/ea. with free shipping.

I know, who buys lead round nose for .38Spl? 🫵 Totally useless against hordes of Ninja assassins on crack. But they’re great for charging empty water bottles at 30 paces. 👍
