What have you done in the reloading room today

You prolly won’t get a good group unless you post a pic of those grips………….😎
Ask and you shall receive...ish :) I could use a consistent good group from the 300 blackout! I have the slide off doing a little work to it, but here they are on the frame. I got "boring black" according to my wife, but I think they'll look good on it when I get the tungsten cerakite done.

IMG_4147.jpeg I hung up a slatwall “endcap”. And then moved my magnet rack “down under”. Monster bucks calendar and bullet poster had to move.
IMG_4144.jpeg Put together 2 10 round ladders of 6.3 true blue(I was going to do power pistol, but I figured true blue would meter better; and it did!!!) with federal primers and 115 xtp and Hap bullets. I’m gonna try testing 1 hand into the dirt pile tomorrow.

When I talk to a new reloader, and they get in the weeds about OAL, I tell them to grab a box of factory loads and measure them.

They usually quit worrying about .001 or 2 after that, especially with handgun loads.
Yep, thats exactly what I do. Funny you say that though, cause I had some factory Fiocchi 230gr XTPs that were just a smidge to long for my 1911 and I gave them to my friend who has an xds and that thing ate them right up no problem. Funny how that works. Oh well. He got like 40rds of good HP ammo for free. I believe I shot some handloaded 230gr XTPs that were seated using factory fmj ammo to set up the die and they worked just fine.

Berettas...my first love:) Well sorta.

While out running errands yesterday, including getting new eyeglass/shooting glass prescriptions, saw an overhead electronic sign saying Cabela's was only ten miles away. So, I drove the extra miles to see what I could find. (Actually, the sign said Gainesville, not Cabela's, but I knew.)

Unfortunately, by not planning for it, I also didn't budget for the trip so a brick of LPP ($94.50) & 500 Berry's 230gr RN ($79) were all I could afford. I'm a strictly cash & carry, budget following consumer. Sometimes it results in emotional disappointment:)

They had some powders (but not my preferred) and both large and small pistol primers of various brands. Small rifle primers too, but no large. Sorry, forgot the pics.

Checked their online inventory while standing there and typically it was waay off. The word "bogus" also comes to mind.

Also, this morning I expanded recently unloaded 45acp cases.

Started loading up some .38 spl, stopped, and started making some homemade chile. Got that going, went back to the .38's. Decided chile, baseball and some beers were more important at the time, so, stopped. I'll finish those tomorrow while it rains. Again.View attachment 1204622View attachment 1204623
THAT is cruel!!! I can't tell you how much I love chili. Even more than reloading!

In fact, reminds me of a story. Many years ago while we still worked, my wife was going on a business trip for one week. Before she left, she made a batch of her amazing spaghetti sauce for me. I turned it into chili! You young married fellas...DO NOT DO THAT!

Which Gainesville? There’s about eight (that I know of) east of the Mississippi.

That's true.

Virginia...today it's really not much more than an area or zip code full of big box stores & data centers. Our own @ballman6711 used to live there--probably where Lowe's plumbing department is today:) My favorite range (which closed to the public last year) was nearby.

Gainesville is immediately adjacent to Manassas battlefield. In fact, the main drag (an eight lane hwy today) was known as the Warrenton Turnpike which, leading up to the second battle of Manassas, was used by Gen'l Pope's main body of Federal troops to approach the already in place Confederates of Jackson.

This area of Prince William County is especially hallowed ground and is being crushed by data centers which have already destroyed much of adjacent Loudon County. Go to American Battlefields Trust to learn more and help preserve what we can https://www.battlefields.org

And now back to our regularly scheduled programming already in progress...

IMG_4154.jpeg Put the last coat on the supports.
IMG_4155.jpeg Took the rack loose and moved it over. IMG_4156.jpeg Made a couple labels for the mic and caliper case(s).
Then I remembered to go to the SD Game Fish and Parks website and found my hunter safety and bow hunter education certificate numbers (from 1999 & 2000) and got them added to my NE profile. Now I can apply for a sheep tag(🤣🤣). Then grabbed the range bag… gonna try some 1 hand testing…(the shoulder is VERY angry this morning).

I am ever grateful to my uncle Charlie (RIP) for making me learn how to shoot with either hand disabled. Carpel tunnel and arthritis have made me a mostly left-handed shooter.

In the reloading room this morning: got my loose bullets and cases together for a major reorganization. SWMBO has approved the transfer of her coveted lock-lid containers to the reloading room. 😁👍❤️

I hear you. I practice weak hand. But I prefer to have both. (Who doesn’t) Haha.

The 6.3 gr load of true blue (middle of the range in Lyman 51) is pay dirt. (9mm) Much more muzzle bark and flash than autocomp. But the super accurate metering is so much more convenient. So… 500 coming right up.

I'll be right over! Reloading and Chile. A winning combination for me. And apparently for you as well. :) 👍

Nice haul within your budget I'd say.

Oddly, I have never set foot in a Cabelas. I say oddly because for an avid fly fisherman, shooting and reloading sportsman, and former hunter to have NEVER set foot in a Cabelas, it is odd. I have ordered from them online, but have only driven past their mega-stores.... many times in many states.

I have to put that on the bucket list this year. I do miss Gander Mountain. I liked them because they were not massive and overflowing with too much to choose from. But since they are gone, I need to put Cabelas on my "must-shop" list.

Unboxed my new Pietta 1873 Great Western II in 45 LC with 45 ACP convertible cylinder at the reloading bench just a few minutes ago. Picked it up earlier today. I unboxed the new revolver at the reloading bench on purpose, so it would give me encouragement to start reloading 45 LC today. Unfortunately, I am a bit bushed by my workout, then the trip to the gun shop and then lawn work. Reloading will have to wait until tomorrow. My new tin sign for above the reloading bench was also delivered today. You gotta' love Lester's Ammunition.

Well watch out! They had a bass boat out front with a motor costing more than my first home!
