What have you done in the reloading room today

Spent this evening messing with my Lee 22 cal inline bullet feeder, and I should be able to get it to work with 75gr bthps, making sure my 30 cal inline will feed the 220gr Berry's for .300 BLK(it will), then setting up my new Lee 5 tube case feeder. Pretty quick and straight forward! Feeds the .223 nicely, and the cartridge gate is great!

Sorted brass by headstamp.

And Put it away.

Loaded a test ladder of 45 auto.

We’ll see how it runs. First time trying true blue in that cartridge.

Then I broke out some hoppes#9 and cleaned the Ram on the press and put some lube on it.

Same thing here again today! Around and around! I'm sorting the clean brass from yesterday while the first load for today is tumbling.

I know, I'm starting to sound like a broken record! But its what I'm doing!
Ditto, again
Finished up the 223/5.56 today.
Sorting them out tonight.
50 rounds of 350 grain .500 S&W magnums with 46 grains of CFEBLK
Badda bing!
BADDA BOOM!!!
And the recoil goes along with the 46 grains too.
;)
What is that contraption?
It is an old rock tumbler.
1950's or 1960's?
Polished Lake Superior agates in it in the late '60's.
It has an electric motor labeled "Craftsman". Haha, Sears and Roebuck...
I added a belt tensioner to it. It is an idler wheel probably off an Artic Cat.
Picked up dozens of those off snowmobiles during my 30 + years of grooming snowmobile trails.
Anyways,
I repurposed it as my wet brass with pins tumbler.
It does a good job with the internal rubber sleaved hexagonal drum!
I remember back in the late sixties that thing ran 24-7 for SIX weeks in our sauna polishing agates through 3 different abrasives.

Get yourself some Boarshead Rimfire Blend….
I think that’s the correct brand name (Rimfire Blend is correct)…
I can send a pic later when I get home…
The stuff works AMAZING on removing lead and such….!!

That’s good stuff. I like the Wipe-out/sharpshootr/patchout brand stuff. I’ve cleaned up some really cruddy barrels with it. And I don’t like ammonia so…

That’s awesome! Not a contraption. lol. It reminds me of the old wringer washer in my grandpas barn. Still works fine and they wash rags with it.
I’d like to run one that big.

Depending on how hard your your stones were, that was meant to run for months.
It did look like it was spinning at rock speeds, not brass rpms. But I'm sure it works just fine

Does TAC require magnum primers….?
I have no experience with it….
NO.

But if you load to full 5.56 pressures, you should avoid THIN primers such as CCI 400, or older Winchester "small rifle primers," or Remington 6 /12. Those THIN primers are typically 0.020" cup thickness. Avoid THIN primers to avoid piercing. I pierced a LOT of the thin primers before I learned my lesson.

I use CCI 450 or CCI 41, or CCI BR primers for all my 5.56 ammo. Each of those primers is 0.025" thickness. I have never pierced any of those 0.025" primers.

Been snowed in the last few days and the plant has been closed since last Friday, Monday was a holiday and we were closed Tuesday and Wednesday so I've had lots of time to fight off boredom...

I've loaded 120 8mm Kurz with a Hornady 125 HP, 70 30-30 Winchester with a 150gr Speer FNSP, 35 45-70 with a Hornady 300gr HP, 100 300 Hamr with a 130gr Speer FNSP, and another 140 300 Hamr with a 125 Speer TNT.

Tomorrow will be 7.62x39 with several different bullets, and then finish it off with the 350 Legend, and if I have time I'll jump on 44mag for my wife's lever gun.

ALL ON A SINGLE STAGE Rock Chucker

Well it is a contraption then but it gets better...in your sauna? Now that's a reloading room!

Expanded & primed 30 45acp cases which are part of my ongoing Winchester only batch test.

I recently ran out of Xtreme 230gr RN and am now using Berry's which seem larger although they both list at .452" and measure the same.

In any event, the Berry's will not easily seat in an undersized/unexpanded case as the Xtreme's did. So, I've gone back to standard sizing and expanding for the time being. Ironic since I've done the same for my similar 9mm test.

About one dozen primer pockets were very tight. Very. So, are they tightening up as mentioned in the Florida Reloading article? http://www.floridareloading.com/index.php/2017/02/04/how-many-times-can-i-reload-45-acp-brass/

I would vote with a resounding YES, but I also note I used Federal primers vs. CCI so that might be a contributing factor. Time will tell.

Working on another batch of Winchester 357 brass. It's about the same as the last one around 300 pieces. Get a good count when priming or powdering. Currently sized.... 17055313064208830851918163111252.jpg

I’m sitting at my bench… I took a tumble on the ice yesterday(like up in the air, land flat on my back, with a 2cubic foot water softener on a two wheel dolly in my lap) so I’m a bit stiff! But I’m still working on stuff. Looks like 308 on the menu for this evening. I think another ladder (smaller) of 110 v max and benchmark. It’s looks like closer to 48.5 gr will run better…
And I just realized I haven’t cleaned my 320 since last workout, and that was 350 rounds worth. And then I realized my bore brush for 9mm is busted. So that’ll wait.
