I bought a blued Remington 870P, "P" meaning the police version. I already had one, which has been served for duty and home defense for well over a decade, but I wanted a spare, for the times one may be down for maintenance, repair, or perhaps modification. Another factor is that as I near retirement, and we contemplate RV travel, perhaps to include Canada, it is good to have firearms that are OK in a variety of jurisdictions.
This is my fourth 870; a burglar got my first, a Wingmaster, long ago. I replaced it with a very smooth pre-Express-era Marine Magnum, which I sold to a friend after I started using a patrol rifle at work in 2002. I soon realized I missed the pump gun, and bought a Parkerized 870P, which I still have.
A Wingmaster, with a factory folding stock, has been my wife's home-defense long gun for quite a while, probably since the late Nineties
