I believe I'd get a Ruger GP 100. Less than a grand and a damn fine shooter to boot Should last about 5 lifetimes too. If $were not an issue (haha) I'd get a Python just to have one.

+1 here.

I haven't even picked up a S&W since I bought my GP100.

I would go for a USFA single action, in 44 special, if possible. If I couldn't swing that I would go with a Ruger Alaskan in .480.

Maybe a S&W M625 Mountain Gun in .45 Colt.

Or maybe a SW M27 or possibly a PC 5" M627.

There are plenty more running through my head right now but I'm not sure they can be had for $1000.

S&W Model 27

4" S&W Model 19 to go with my 6"

Something in 44-40.

Not necessarily in that order.

a nice 6-6.5 inch 29 or 629 or even a 4 inch 629... a model 58 or a 610.... maybe even a used 500 if it was available

A pre-lock S&W 625 in .45ACP with a 4 inch barrel.

$1,000 free bucks for a revolver?,,,

I like to collect pairs of handguns,,,
One in a centerfire cartridge,,,
The other in rimfire.

An example is my S&W Model 15 and Model 18,,,
Identical guns just shooting different types of cartridges,,,
I have 11 such pairs that give me delight me to own and shoot.

I own an old French 8mm Lebel revolver model 1892,,,
The revolver is in perfect working condition,,,
And I have 500+ rounds of new ammo.

I named her Margaux,,,

A few days ago a friend who knows my guns and collecting preferences sent me a link,,,
There is a gun dealer in Florida who has one of these Lebels,,,
But it is chambered for .22 LR and it shoots,,,
They are asking $650.00 for it.

I've spent more than that for three of my .22 handguns,,,
But this comes at a time when I have absolutely no spare money.

If $1,000.00 were to magically drop into my lap,,,
I would have $675.00 of it winging to Florida,,,
I would buy that old gal and name her Mimi.

If you had $1000 to spend on a revolver what would you get? No particular use in mind just something you have wanted. New or old, current manufacture or an oldie, oddball caliber or black powder. Please no "I would get a .......and a lot of ammo". I'm leaning toward an original 1877 Colt in 41 colt.
An original Colt Bisley, 4 3/4" in 44-40 or 45 Colt. I know $1000 wouldn't be enough, but it'd get me close enough!

35W

K22 Masterpiece pre-Model 17.
Or
S&W Model 27 with 5 inch barrel.

Whichever came available first in near mint condition.

Can I use that $1,000 to buy a couple of guns???? If I can't then I'd go for a Smith and Wesson Model 1917. I've always wanted one of those.

The only thing about the 1877 is that while it wouldn't be much trouble to load for, I'd be worried about the lockwork lasting through any amount of shooting.

A thousand doesn't buy what it used to. I'm having a real itch for a nice flintlock pistol or at least a swanky percussion single shot. The Pedersoli LePage is a mighty fine one. I just passed on a .38-40 just like this .44Spl for $1300 and that was a bit of a sting but I think I'll hold off for a 7½". I still need to have the .44 fitted with ivory anyway.

I've got most of my revolver "needs" taken care of, so if $1k were the limit at this point, I'd buy a 3-1/2" Model 27. North of $1k, it'd be a Freedom Arms .44mag.
I'm with you!
for some reason, as I get older (46 yrs old), I favor S&W revolvers more and more....
I have only owned model 66 snubs, thus far, but want to branch out into some of the classics....
A model 27 in 3.5" is my new Grail gun.
