I think the Glock you carry will do fine. Your shortfall may be due to your battle plan, how many others are involved on your side and how much you train.
Pistol rounds are not quite as instantly convincing as a shotgun, but who is standing guard? While you go about your business, someone else may get the jump on you. He or she may have done a fair amount of reconnaissance on your place and there may be accomplices inside and outside.
Anyway, weapons are only part of the solution; having a plan of action is another.
