This was 1987 so prices were lower. Bought a number of guns at a police auction. By the end of the day the big spenders had gone home and the lower end items were going cheap. I bought 2 Ruger 10/22s, an AR 7 survival rifle (the one that breaks down and stores in its own stock), a number of Savage, Stevens, Marlin and other .22 rifles, a couple of side by side shotguns in 12 and 20, and maybe 6 H&R Topper single-shot 12 gauge shotguns. A total of 40 guns in two lots and I paid an average of $15.00 each. I bid $12.50 per gun for the 1st lot and $17.50 each on the 2nd.
Also picked up 2 handguns. A Colt Trooper Mk III in .22 Long Rifle and one of those Argentine 1911 wannabes. Paid $150 for each of them.
I still have 3 of the guns. A Stevens Favorite .22, a Stevens bolt .22 from the 1940s, and one of the Topper shotguns (it was like new condition). Believe it or not I wound up losing money on the rest as I gave away about 1/2 of them including the Colt, both Rugers and the AR 7. Sold the rest for $30-$40 each.
