To state the obvious, you guys have some seriously amazing firearms!
I'm still rather "young," and hope to add some older firearms to my collection before my days are through, but so far the oldest guns I own are:
-a Nambu Type-14, markings indicate April of 1943
-a Mosin Nagant 91-30 made in 1943
-a Remington "Junior Special" 521-T .22 bolt action made in 1946 (doesn't even have a serial number, just factory barrel-stamp)
-a Winchester model 1912 shotgun made in 1953
-a brace of nickel J.P. Sauer & Sohn SAA clones in .45LC and .22lr likely from the late '50s/early '60s
those are my oldest guns, that are
mine, and they all shoot just as good as new! (with the exception of the Nambu, which is missing its safety lever and firing pin)
The first handgun I ever handled still belongs to my grandfather, it's a 1860 Army that has been passed down through our family, and was issued to Philip Schellenger who was the fireman aboard the USS Monitor, who was an ancestor of mine! Worst part about that is my cousin will be inheriting it, and he isn't even a gun guy :banghead: but it inspired me to get into cap n ball guns at an early age and as a result I have many modern black powder replicas that I love to shoot.
other guns I have that are 'old' when compared to the poster who's oldest gun is from 2006 are:
-a Wildey with a much lower serial number than any other Wildey I've ever seen, made sometime in the '70s
-a Remington Nylon 66 that I haven't checked the date of yet, but I do love to shoot it!
-Super Blackhawk made in 1981
-GP100 made in 1989
-629-2 'Mountain Revolver' made in 1989
-and my 5906 left the factory in the early 90s, I'm its second owner
