Looking at the results I don't know if this forum is full of old geezers or if you just don't want to mess with us old guys because there seems to be a lot of us carrying.
Springfield XD in .45 ACP "Service" Model. It's a very good gun...I've never had a FTF or FTE with it and I've fired probably around 1000 rounds through it with varied types of ammunition.
I've been carrying a 1911 for a few years not. I started out with a Sigma 9VE, and after a couple of years, got a Taurus PT1911 thhat hasn't let me down yet.
I sometimes will carry a smaller gun for when I need deep concealment. My choices have included: Keltec P3AT, S&W Model 642 Airweight, Keltec PF9, PSP-25 (a superb Baby Browning clone), a piece of crap Davis CA380, and a Taurus 85UL.
Currently I carry a Rossi 462 as a back up, or an alternative to the 1911.
Going to be able to vote in more than one category at some point? I just saw I'd already "voted" (posted) on this back after it was started.
When I eventually lessen the amount of time I still keep my hand in things as a LE firearms instructor & armorer, and spend less time on the range, the number of guns/calibers will probably decrease, as well (due to decreased training, practice & qual time).
1 or 2 calibers, and a couple of differently sized weapon choices, could easily cover my needs, after all.
My days of lugging around some 40-50+ ounce "full-size fighting handgun" are in the past. Even my 29 +/- oz M&P 45 4.5" or SW1911SC 5" can get a bit tedious after a long day.
I'm 32 and I carry a glock 19 most of the time-- lately I've started carrying an SP101 .357 revolver maybe 45% of the time.
and a fullsize 1911 5% of the time.
