I taken a deer every time fired at one, whatever the weapon (don't mean to brag...). However, I've taken the most with my Savage 110 (pre-accutrigger) in .243. A straight shooting son-of-a-gun!

Another vote for the Winchester Model 94 in .30 WCF. I've had mine sense I was 18 and it was ten years old then. Now it's 64 years old and still my "go to" rifle.

It's my first and my only currently... I have a Marlin 30-30 passed down to me from when my grandfather passed away. I have 2 bucks with it. I couldn't be happier!

Since the early "80's" my go to gun for moose/bear/caribou/deer and about everything else has been my Krieghoff Semper,

It's 76 years old, and just keeps on keeping on! Includeing takeing this nice buck several days ago,

I believe that was it's 27th "one shot kill" in a row on big game...

The most kills, Browning BAR .243. Note: most does not necessarily constitute many. I think I've killed 6 with it. This one this morning:

Favorite to carry in the woods, Rossi '92 in .44-40. It was my first Cowboy Action rifle and is just so perfect for totin' around in the woods. Admittedly, it is a close range only rifle, I would not take a shot over 50 yards with it. I haven't killed anything with it yet.

Sweet rifle!!

What caliber(s) ??

Oh and a dandy of a buck also.

that is a beautiful rifle, I would almost hate to take it out in the brush. I hunt South Texas and just about everything will cut you, stick you and or scratch your firearms. I got some nice rifles with walnut stocks and the brush has taken its toll on some of em. as far as calibers, the old 30-30 and such only work for us in the brush cause some of our sendero shots can be as far as 500 yards or more.

I have taken deer with several different guns: Ruger #1 in 45-70, Ruger 30-06, Ruger .308, M1 A, .54 Cal Rem ML, Rem 742 30-06, M98 in 25-06, etc. I really enjoy using different firearms.

However, when it comes to 'have to' or a 'go to' gun, it would be my Win M70 in .300 WM. For some reason, it just 'fits'. When it comes to the shoulder, the sights are 'on' and when the trigger is pulled, the bullet goes to the place the crosshairs are. And, the results when the bullet arrives is conclusive.

Just some 'zen' thing or a matter of familarity or of confidence, I don't know. But, for me, it just "WORKS".

I've taken the most deer with a Remington 742 30-06, but others include a 7400 30-06, pump 35 R, 30-30 Win., 357 mag., 700 .243, 30-06, and 7 MM.,
Rem. 788 243, SKS, AK-47, AR-15., Franchi 20 g, Mossberg 500 12g, Moss. 9200, Just got a 11-87 slug gun. and maybe some I've forgotten.

First year production for Knight In-line Rifles.....1985, 50 caliber with Swarovski optics, have taken around 40 deer with it over the years. Other favorite is the Desert Eagle .44 cal.

DM~:

Ya think maybe next time you can give us a heads-up before you post a picture?! I mean, I know what the deer is, but that homely critter behind scared the Hades outta me!!! :D

Numerically, I would say that honor goes to my Weatherby Mark V, chambered in .300 Win Mag. My favorite? Sheesh...all of them. The ugliest rifle I own is purdy, and makes me feel all warm inside.

My fav is my grandpas old M722 iin .257 Roberts. I killed my first deer with it 50 years ago this year. Now, it ain't that i don't like my other rifles or that I hunt much with the .257 anymore, just that there's a lot of memories in that old gun. It's still my most accurate, too, shooting 1/2 MOA with it's best handload.

Still waiting on DM answer on the caliber of that nice gun.

My favorite deer rifle is my 7mm wsm in a winchester 70. I love this gun. I am not bragging but I have shot over 100 deer with this gun and they drop like a rock.

Now for the guys saying 100 deer no way. But on our farm we have to shoot deer year around on a special permit because of crop damage on the beans so I spend about 30 nights a summer shooting deer. and the 7mm wsm is my new favorite round

Man this is a tough one that I would have to break down into parts.

Firearm I have killed the most deer with- Old Marlin 336 in .30/30
Firearm I have killed the most Elk with- Savage 99 in .30/06 (Old beat up ugly thing still shoots the heads off nails and just carries nice)
Favorite these days- TC Pro Hunter chambered in 7mm.08 for deer and Elk or, If I hunt here, I slap on either the 12gauge slug barrel or the .50ML both of which are freakishly accurate. I'll probably never catch up to the numbers of deer I have taken with the old thuddy thuddy and my boys now have them both (damn kids).

Like many here, I've taken deer with a multitude of different calibers and platforms.

Just a funny note, I asked my grandpa what his favorite deer hunting rifle was. He looked at me kinda funny and said... which ever one I have pointed at a deer at the time. and never missed a lick splitting wood.

I've gotta say that for me, variety is the spice of life. I've taken whitetail with a 12 gauge Mossberg slug gun, Remington Model Sevens in .243 and .308, a 760 in .30-06, a Marlin 336, a Ruger Redhawk and a SuperRedhawk, an Encore pistol in .243, an Encore 209x50 rifle, and a PSE compound bow. Hope to take one in the late season with a Lyman flintlock.

Favorite? Don't know. If pressed, I'd have to give the nod to the Model Seven in .308. It's a great general purpose cartridge in a light, compact package.

The most deer would be a 12ga but my favorite would be my 30-30's. I wanted one ever since I can remember and in the past few years have found 2, both 94's. Although i'd like to swap one for a marlin. I haven't tried the leverevolution rounds yet but love cor-lokt
