What's your Holy Grail?

Yeah the Automag is one of my faves too, the last one I saw here was in 357 Automag, with 2 barrels in a wooden presentaion case for just under 2 grand. Very cool looking pistol.

The other 'exotic" on my wish list is a 1878 Colt DA new frontier six shooter, 45 cal naturally, 5 inch barrel.

But really, the way $$ on SAAs keep going up.. who wouldn't want a genuine Colt cowboy pistol?

Semi -auto - Probably a Les Baer 45 auto. Fired one last time I was in NC and it was a shooter! The owner was shooting one-handed bullseye style at 25 yards and had one ragged hole. He let me shoot a couple of strings - again one handed - and there was still only that one ragged hole! No , I did not miss the target!

Rimfire -Would like to find one of the older Smith Model 17s - one that will really shoot. Owned a 617 and it was a dog! The only Smith I ever owned that would not shoot.

Centerfire revolver - A Freedom Arms in 357 Mag would be nice - a revolver that would give my TC Contender 357 a run for its money in accuracy!

HK USP Match

not sure if I want the 9mm or the .45.

Howzabout the 9mm in Stainless and the .45 in blue?

The one I've wanted for years is a Royal Blue Python. Probably try looking for one next year.

Then I think I might try for one of those 9x23/38 Super Colt 1911's.

After that I can't think of anything that I'd want that is common. It'll probably be some sort of gun with a "history" that make it unique.

I've always wanted a Beretta 84BB. Why oh why did they have to "tacticalize" this beautiful pistol into the absurd and ugly 84F on the market today?

Stainless Luger in 9mm or .45acp...

(obviously these are modern repros (I think by "American Eagle Ind."), but I would love to own one...)

JMHO,

Howard

I can't, can't, can NOT believe I let this one get away. Has any one EVER EVEN SEEN one of these before??? And I let it go for a lousy $465!!!

Aaaaarrrrrggg! I hate myself sometimes!

Glock 18?

I'd never heard of this, or seen it until I watched National Security. I recognized it as a Glock (ugly gun, square slide :D, 33 round mag), but he was shooting a full auto! Didn't think that was right...but now that I know it's real, Mikey likes it!

A Thompson 1927? .45ACP takes a handgun round, so i s'pose we can fudge it in this forum. ;)

They were made for the civilian market in countries where the citizenry is not allowed to buy military calibers, like Italy or Mexico. Since 9x21 has no advantages over 9x19, and costs more to buy over here (if you can even get it), there has never been a market for the Beretta 98 here. Still, a neat collector's item, not very common over here.

A bright, shiny, nickel-plated Browning Hi-Power with mother-of-pearl grips. I guess I'll have to settle for having one of mine plated, 'cause the ones Browning made are too expensive these days. Comes with rarity, I suppose. :(

A pre model S&W 27, with a 3 1/2" barrel and original diamond target grips.
Archie:
I have a line on a Five Screw M27 S&W with the 3.5 inch barrel. And it's within my price range.
Hope both of you guys find what you're seeking. I found and purchased MY short pre-27 five-screw last February.

I've taken it out to shoot a couple of times, and, if anything, it performs even better than I'd hoped. Now I'm looking for JUST the right style and vintage holster in which to carry it occasionally. It's just almost too pretty to ut into a holster.

For now, I mostly just gaze upon the beautiful countenance, and *SIGH*.

Archie - - You had a line on one. Any progess?

Good luck to both of you.
Johnny

Holy Grail: 1911 meets 2003

A full size(5" Bbl.)custom 1911, .45 ACP: a blend of the basic GI .45 with the 21st Century thrown in....scalloped in all the usual grip and slide areas....fixed Tritium sights, flat lightweight trigger, single stack, Cocobolo grips that don't "bite".....Black Chromed slide, stainless frame. BTW, the price tag should be more than my net worth:rolleyes:
