I run through about 10-20...some of them are esoteric, some general..but in a few I notice that sometimes the posters act like jerks (here being a noticeable exception)..

Whats your least favorite gun message Board...???

Tried a few various awhile back. Wasn't impressed, so never persued it. Everything I could want was to be found at TFL. Since that's leveraged to THR, this is where I'll stay.

If you can't find it here (& that with resources to other links, granted), it ain't to be found.

Don't really have a least favorite...TFL became my favorite and I visit the others in phases.

I never saw anything I liked at Shooters, some people at TFL said they liked it though, I've been called more names at glocktalk than anywhere else just for not agreeing with someone, but the moderaters were right on them, and the regulars are all decent enough....tom

I moved to TFL from Guns&Ammo's forum. A member on there suggested it to me and I haven't been back over there for more than a minute or two since. I prefer the fine folks that I've gotten to know through there posts here, and this is a much superior layout.

I used to post on Shooters a lot but didn't like the format. Found TFL now THR and ain't looked back.
Glock talk is OK except for some reason all they want to talk about is Glocks  joke forum is about the only one I visit there.

I don't visit too many others. Used to be a regular at AR15.com, but the "flavor" of the place changed and I quit going about a year ago. I visit HCT and StoppingPower.net once in a great while, but seldom post at either. I'm also a member of DefenseReview, where I post once in a while, despite a severe personality conflict with another member and his lackey.
TFL was the best board on the web and THR has rightly inherited that crown.

I was going to Shooters.com pretty regularly for a couple of years. I learned a lot there about handguns - going from a handgun newbie to shooting handguns more often than rifles. The Handgun board there was hijacked by a bunch of in-joke guys who eventually got one of their their regular handgun gurus Don OTMW to finally leave.

I don't really dislike Shooters.com. It just changed to something I lost interest in. I found TFL after that and rarely go back. I found a few new ones during the close of TFL, but I'm spending a lot of time on THR.

Glock Talk

I went there yesterday to post a question. Since I never registered with them (I dont have a Glock) I had to register. Problem is my IP address is blocked from them!! Do you think I can get a response from the e-mails I sent them asking what may be wrong??

Luckily for me many of you here are more than capable of answering questions accuratly!!:)

Probably glocktalk because terms like "raghead" and "diaperhead" are all too common over there. And they're suppossed to be a pc forum.I just stopped going there altogether.
The main reason I stayed at TFL was because of the lack of racial and religious slurs.

I have not found a gun board that was always good or bad. However, some boards are better than others. The trick is to eat the meat and spit out the bones.

Pheonix, I had the same problem at Glocktalk from my home address. I registered from work and got in fine. Maybe they are blocking certin IP address ranges from well known ISP's No excuse for not answering emails though.

Message Boards

I haven't been involved with too many of these boards but have found this one to be very active, informative, and EASY to be a part of. I used to post a little on the AOL "Gun Talk" boards...there are definitely some good folks out there and I got some good advice from them, but there also seems to be a serious case of "one-upsmanship" or something going out there...one or two people with heavy attitude issues that just turned me off of their boards altogether. Heck, maybe it's all cleaned up now, I don't know...haven't even been out there in a couple of months!

Kudos, anyway, to the folks running and moderating this ship...thanks for your work! :)

TheFrontRange, you posted on AOL Gun Talk?
Me too. I used to be WriterRik on AOL.
Not gonna get into the least favorite gun board thing...don't care to start any flame wars.

Not a fan of AR15.com. I think it's mainly because of their software. I find it quite difficult to navigate and can never find the search button when i want it. Seems to be alot of trolls over there too......AK47.net is ok as long as you stay out of General Discussion.

Hi!

Hey there, Rik...I didn't post too much, but when I did it was under TheFrontRange. I mostly asked questions in the 1911 forum and had some others in the Cowboy/Single-Action section. It seems like the self-defense-related boards were the ones on AOL where most of the infighting took place...blew more than a couple of hours reading the blow-by-blow posts LOL!

Use to visit Glocktalk a bit until I read the thread about how un-American it is to buy and drive a foreign car. Unusually, the posters in favor of this view had no problem with buying foreign guns. I couldn't see to logic. And of course the overt racism.

I've found that almost all of the boards are interesting, and some are informative, as long as you stay out of the "general discussion" section, or else take what you read there with a large grain of salt.

I really don't see much rascism or bigotry on Glock Talk. There are trolls everywhere, but I don't think GT is any worse than any of the others.

And does it really come as a suprise to anyone that Glock Talk is mostly about Glocks?

I like a lot of boards, but my one criteria is alot of traffic. I hate seeing the same posts just sit for days or weeks w/o any responses. I like seeing the variety of opinions & vast knowledge shared w/ its members.

Oh, don't I remember it! I got into it heavily with some lamebrain who went by the nick of "Bullet243," as did my friend Darrell. Then there was the long-running "cat-shooting" war, the people run off by Doug, the moderator...it was a regular soap opera. It prepared me well for the gun boards I would find on the internet.
:D

Have tried several but have narrowed it down to just two for daily perusal: THR (from TFL) and HKPRO (strictly Heckler & Koch and strictly disciplined - no non sense allowed).

And three for specifics, FALFILES (FN etc.), AR15, and BATTLERIFLES (M1, M14).

What I have a problem with..

are the ones where all the replies "string out" the threads rather than stack the topics like this forum

if you get 15 or 20 replies, it takes up the majority of the page. If you're looking for something 3-4 days old it may be 5 or more pages back
