To member Mistwolf, that was so funny I have to get a new keyboard from the coffee I spit all over mine.

This was the best I've read yet. If we could get this in the Onion do you think the MSM might run with it and CA could then pro-actively ban it.

Heh! It was a very boiled down version of an article I read in a gun magazine I read as a kid. I believe it was either Guns & Ammo or Shooting Times and it was talking about the very same caliber

Sorry about your keyboard, but you really shouldn't drink and chive

That bullet would melt and plate itself to the inside of the bore, or simply melt its way through the rifling like a molten blob of metal from a shaped charge - - -

Got any physics majors out there? At what pressure will gunpowder cease to burn? Surely there must be an upper limit that will hold the molecules from 'burning' until the pressure drops enough to allow the 'burning' to continue ... Sort of like water when it's contained in a pressure vessel will stay a super heated liquid far beyond the normal boiling temperature at one atmosphere.

Lookin' at the .17/50BMG makes me think it would apply.

Now, where did I put that mad-scientist-scratching-his-head emoticon? ~:)-|)
