was at Grafs Tuesday , they had all types of primers on hand , not in all brands but all sizes. Didn't notice the 1K limit sign this time

No posts on this one in a while, so I might suppose that primer availability is no longer an issue.

That said, figured I "might as well" give a heads-up..........
MidSouth Shooters Supply ( www.midsouthshooterssupply.com ) has, for the last 3 months, been the "most likely" source I've checked with supplies of DOMESTIC small pistol (and my precious Rem 9-1/2 LR) primers.

I admit that the CCI-500's I've bought are mostly APS strips, which for me require de-stripping, but at 27 bucks per 1000 pre-shipping/haz, it's still quite a hell of a deal. They've had the Rem 6-1/2's I use in my Hornet for months.

No denial here, the "have picture ID on file" part of their hazmat shipping requirement is a pain in the @$$, but it was handled overnight with a simple scan-and-send from my scanner.

If you're looking, give a look.

PS - after re-reading this is one heck of a sales pitch. Not affiliated in any way for what it's worth, just pleased at their availability and speed of shipping ("almost" midway...) once you jump that initial PITA-hurdle and email the ID photo over.

For those in the southern Ohio area, several vendors have various primers for sale at Bill Goodman's Gun & Knife show. I've seen sp, spm, sr and ss primers as far as types and Fed, CCI, WW and Wolf with regards to brands. The next show is on the 15th in Cincinnati.

Olde English Outfitters in Vandalia has a fairly large assortment of primers and powder also.

Price drop again.

Wideners has Wolf on sale for $25/1k in 5k amounts.

We Now have Wolf primers as low as $25.00 per 1000 Before shipping and Haz_mat.

These wolf primers say they are the brass ones! Look at them on their site, and they will look like brass.

Don't assume the picture gets updated every time a fresh batch of primers arrives. I'm not saying that you won't receive brass colored primers . . . I'm saying there's no guarantee you will just because the picture shows them.

primers

i just received 8000 winchester wlr primers from powder valley $25.00 per 1000 $25.00 haz matt 9.95 shipping :)

Remember this thread? :D

Powder Valley has CCI in stock for $24/1K and Winchester for $25/1K.

Glad to see them all back in stock at reasonable prices - I am more than ready for some "guilt-free" reloading using all USA made components.

I heard some GREAT words the other day when I went to buy primers.
"What brand do you want?"
Been a while since I heard that!

(by the way, I buy CCI when I can)
just in case you were interested ;)

Just had an email ad with Tula's for sale for $16.xx/1k. Natchez's maybe? Might have been over a month ago...

Prices are dropping and supply is up. Good times indeed.

Went to a local gun show yesterday and saw the ammo/component vendors with just about all types of Winchester primers in sufficient quantities in stock (no limits). Winchester SP/LP primers were $21.95/1000. And to my surprise, no pushing or shoving to get to the primers, just nice and civil lines formed to get everyone's fill. It was like good old days before the shortage when I bought Winchester primers for $19/1000.

Same for powder, other than Vihtavuori, just about every powder manufacturers were represented in 1, 4, 8 lb containers including more popular ones.

It sure was a beautiful sight - almost brought tears to my eyes. :D

Graf and Sons has CCI Small Pistol primers for $109/5000 or $21.80/k. This is comparable to Weidner's Wolf primers at $19.00/k.

I just got 10k of the CCIs from Grafs last week. Of course I put the order in in January. :) But I think they're getting faster about filling these. CCI was severely back ordered last year.

Perhaps it's time to resurrect this thread. :D

= NOTE = Yes, this is an old thread but looks like it's time to bring it back.

Feel free to post sources of primers when they become available again.

As of 4:06am Central time, 1/4/2013, Powder Valley had Tula [TUL 223 PRIMERS (KVB223M) (1000)] primers in stock. I just ordered 6k. I've been avoiding any and all panic buying but after trying to track down 3-400 small rifle primers for a get-together next month I realized I better buy a few more than I intend to shoot right away. I could have ordered more and left less for the next guy but just figured I'd order enough to last me 6 months of normal shooting. Hopefully this all blows over by then. I tried to order some powder too but they seemed to be out of everything that I CAN'T find locally.

I wish l of my southern neighbors good luck in things getting back to normal.
I was in a small mom and pop gun shop in northern NY where I usually buy my reloading and casting equipment and can tell you that even in the furthest corners of the US of A, even in AWB NY the shelves are bare of anything AR related.
The poor bullet shelf that is behind the counter looks like a small band of thieves went through it leaving only the most oddball calibers laying around.

this is crazy.... SP primers are totally gone... I would think the primer manufacturers would be trying to pump out as many primers as possible to take advantage of this but it just looks like they dont care
