Ruger SR-9-C, its developed into a very good gun. Small enough to carry, can have 17 rounds with full size mag installed.

The Ruger and others might be fine but let them be judged by the test of time.
The top 3 rated guns have been put through the ringer in the real world and come out popular years after their introduction.
These guns have gained world wide popularity for a reason and its not just nifty marketing.

If I cold write a blank check, I'd have one of each.

Lately I've been comparing Glock with M&P and XDm. I'd be happy with any of them.

I bought the CZ 85 with adjustable sights because I use it for target shooting. It's a great gun for the money, nice trigger pull, high capacity magazine and reliable. I bought one because I never read or heard anyone say anything bad about them.

I didn't vote because it's a toss-up to me for either the SIG P229 or the Glock 19. They are both outstanding handguns. I don't have a lot of personal experience with any of the other handguns mentioned other than I simply don't care at all for either of the Berettas based on handling them. I have read excellent results on long-term testing of the HK P30. The BHP design is solid but dated--it's the only single action in the group so consider that carefully. I almost bought a CZ 75B Compact once but I was less than impressed with it on close inspection...I don't know anything at all about the SP-01.

Just to mix things up a little, have you considered the Ruger SR9 and/or the Walther P99? I have not shot either gun but I've handled both and they really feel good to me, especially the P99. I'm having a debate with myself on what my next handgun might be. So far the Walther is a strong contender.

Let me start by saying I was a Glock detractor. I'd shot a friend's and wasn't impressed with it. There was nothing about them I liked, I was a BHP and 1911 guy. Some friends of mine were raving about the Glock, so I traded my last BHP for a 19, which is arguably their most popular model, just to really see what they were about. I really like it. In fact, I'm really surprised how much I like it, yes even the trigger. Enough to get a 26 for more discreet carry. Then I started using the 19 in IDPA matches instead of my 1911 and just lately picked up a 17 too for that role.

Get the Glock 19.

Ignition Overide...the SIGs that looks like the PPK are the 230/232. Those SIGs are .380s.

I had a hard time choosing between the bottom four options. I really want the last three eventually, but I ended up choosing the Beretta 92fs, because I own one and really like it.

But the Mec-Gar 15-round SIG 228/229 magazines cost the same or less than the Glock magazines. Mec-Gar is the current supplier of SIG's magazines, so quality is not an issue--they function perfectly. I am particularly fond of the nickel Mec-Gars in my SIGs.

The BHP is the best of the nines, though they require some tweaking to get a really superb trigger.
I note that CZ has released a SA 75 and I'd like to try one of those out. They might give the BHP a run for their money.

Sig P229, because the metal frame leads to less recoil compared to the Glock 19 (which would be my second choice). It is an extremely reliable and very accurate platform. You should take a look into what is on the hip of the Secret Service, here's a hint: it's not a Glock

The icon of the free world (ironic that this is said on a gun related forum), the President of the United States, is protected by some brave men and women, who are protected by Sig's

Of the ones you listed I'd chose the BHP since I've always wanted to own one, it is just isn't currently at the top of my list right now. It is accurate and is an good range/HD gun. Second choice would the the SIG.

Beretta 92. I actually have 7 of them - different variants.

I have been buying and selling guns since the 1990s. At this point, this is my fav platform. I have owned a couple of high end 1911s (I still have one), but the 92 still is my fav.

one of my 92s is my concealed carry gun, and I'm not a big guy at all. It is my fav gun to hold in a 1 handed grip - arm out stretched to fire. It balances perfectly, and with the hogue rubber grip panels, it really sits well in the hand.

I've owned most of the other guns that others have mentioned, but for me, the 92 is the best :)

And these are my latest two - two 92FS compacts. They are available again, new, after over 10 years of no imports into the USA...

Glock 19
Because everything else are range toys

I think around 80 countries still use the Browning HP, about 18 use a Glock 19.
Now, in all fairness, I didn't check to see if the countries still using the BHP were using them as range guns only

Shipwreck, what do you think of the 90-two? I really like the look but haven't heard much about them.
