In most ways, the rifle is nothing special, just a Pedersoli flintlock in .36 caliber. But I have had it for a very long time and we have had a lot of small adventures together. I cannot imagine trying to maintain a mantel without it.

It depends on your personal taste. I have seen muzzle loaders, double barrel shotguns and antique Winchester lever guns. All of these made an attractive display.

When it comes to 2A infringements, he's among the worst presidents this country has ever had.......Back to the subject at hand though, you could do a flintlock and AR15 together. I like the idea of a nice looking muzzle loader.

Speaking of fireplace decorations, a few years before my father passed he became infatuated with AK-47's. I gifted him a Romanian WASR with a 75 round drum magazine and he mounted that above the fireplace. It didn't look "right" but he loved it.

For the price of a old wall hanger you could buy a functional AR-15 knock off and you won't have far to grab it when you need it.
Work out some sort of simple chain or lock that works for your situation.
In this day and age keeping a weapon handy is just being prepared. Just like the old days when we hung a flintlock over the fireplace. They weren't for decoration.

I have an old Hawken style muzzle loader on my office wall that looks great.
I recently acquired an old double barrel 12 gauge for the same purpose.

Anything along those lines would look great.

I agree. Isn't the Nagant the epitome of Alaska? Cheap, reliable fire power.
If someone steals it, they got your rifle, boat paddle, tent pole, and walking stick all at once.

I will never understand some people's love affair with the Mosin Nagant rifle. I remember when those things were stacked in trash cans at gun shows with a sigh "Take your pick. $50." Every weekend after a gun show, people would show up at the range with them, shoot a 12 moa group, and say "Hey, that's pretty good." Mean while I'm shooting 1/2 moa with my 243. smh.

Muzzle loading sxs shotgun. They don’t command too much of a premium in today’s market. And can have some really exquisite craftsmanship for the price
