White House ready to use 19 Executive Orders on Guns

If Rep. Steve Stockman (R-Texas) wants to run for president, he has my vote. Anyone that will stand up to the traitor self appointed king is qualified in my book.
obviously all the strict republicans who vote in the primarys would shoot him down instantly because "he's not moderate enough to draw more liberal base" than we'll get a RINO, who'll pretend to be uber conservative, and will make libs hate him by that, and the actual conservative non repubs will not support because of his track record, and we'll be in the same hole. If it wasn't for Obama's exectutive orders and his record of using means other than legislative, Id almost be glad (on this issue) that Romney wasn't pres. If he was he'd be supporting the same AWB, and he'd easily get enough repubs to pass it.

According to FOX NEWS as of 9:00 am, of the 19 EO's proposed, none includes high capacity limits or weapons bans. It appears that Obama wants to have Congress have to vote on those issues and paint Republicans in a corner(for 2014) if they vote it down.

Wouldn't it be nice if his arrogance got him impeached? Does anyone in Congress even have the stones to do so of he oversteps his bounds?

Largely signals a significant degree of backing off by the Administration for lack of legal grounds, available resources, and most especially political capital.

“It was all focusing on enforcing existing law, administering things like improving the background database, things like that that do not involve a change in the law but enforcing and making sure that the present law is administered as well as possible,” said Rep. Bobby Scott (D-Va.).

It all indicates an attempt to lower the expectations of the anti-gun lobby and political base.

That's what I suspect. They know they don't have the votes in a GOP House and maybe not even in the Senate to reinstate the AWB or any other sweeping anti-gun legislation.

So in order to look like they did something they're coming out with a "whopping" 19 executive orders, most of which won't amount to anything but will look good in the headlines to their anti-gun constituents.

Of course this is just the tip of the iceberg. If they had the votes you can guarantee they would push through wide-ranging anti-gun legislation similar to New York and CA. But at least between now and 2014 that isn't possible. And hopefully in '14 the leftists will lose more seats and make it even less likely.

The biggest threat to the 2nd amendment will be Obama's nominations in the next 4 years to the Supreme Court!

Crazy indeed. Glad someone is willing to speak out about it though on the Congressional level.

1. Because he might not have won
2. He is pandering to his base
3. 19 EO's makes it "look" like he is really concerned and did something about it quickly. Think about just the statement--" He executed 19 EO's in response to Sandy Hook!"
4. He wants to then leave the capacity and weapons ban to the House where he can then paint the Republicans into a corner for the midterms(2014) if "THEY" don't pass it.

So it becomes a win, win for Obama. He personally did what he could(19 EO's) as President and left it to the House to do further gun restrictions. The lefts view is he did so much and the Republicans blocked further restrictions so it's their fault.

The NRA gets its strength by appealing to Democrats as well as Republicans. There are plenty of Democrats that may be liberal but are pro-gun. If the gun bills ever make it to the House, Obama’s blame game will fall flat.

Yeah, guns are bad. I think a pilot program is in order.

Disarm all Secret Service details and we'll see how it works for a given time frame and then re-evaluate after say, six months.

Anybody left standing should be more co-operative.

The most important thing is that NONE of the 19 EO's on the table include any mandates on magazines or weapons. Obama will push for those in Congress(politically correct) but that essentially means that they are DOA and will never pass.

We are thinking about moving to Texas at this point, Florida is full of drifters.

Perhaps you should have considered that more dangerous to the 2nd Amendment and other issues is Obama's ability to appoint Supreme Court justices!:banghead:

According to the CATO Institute, Obama could use the NFA to reclassify certain guns as “dangerous weapons”. These could include shotguns, or any gun of his choosing. He could then use an EO to ban them. This would be a bold and brazen overreach, but Obama likes to push the envelope. They also stated that he has little wiggle room to ban large capacity magazines since the guns were designed to use them, e.g., 13-19 for handguns, 30 rd for AR-15.

Too much speculation; I’ll wait to see the EOs and suggested bills.

One socialist gun grabber running against another socialist gun grabber with nicer hair. I didn't bother to leave the house.

Again----Supreme Court appointments is THE biggest threat a President has in his power. Something to ponder next time.
