He promised to "change" America in a fundamental way. Gun control is one of those items on his list. I have no doubt that he CAN and WILL create havoc in the gun world.

I wish we would simply get to the deal that sounds like they have started to leak some of the details today in preparation for the announcement. If they are looking at 19 EO's, we are going to see a radical change in how the interpret and enforce existing laws.

They have a LOT of laws on the books and with their mindset of perverting definitions and redefining laws, this will take your breath away. If it is 19 EO's at one time, assuming that this report is a leaked report from a high WH source, then that is a whole LOT of gun control action some which may be reversible, much that probably is not with another POTUS EO.

God Bless Texas!!!

I really mean this. I lived in NY (upstate) for fifty years. I didn't know what I was missing until I moved to Texas.

Dito Idaho after living in CA for nearly 20 years!! Whoops, don't tell anyone, Shhhhhh.

Shhhhh! We are trying to keep Texas a secret from the rest of the nation. We already have more than our share of carpetbaggers.

Texan's trying to keep Texas a SECRET? HAH!:D

Seriously, I would like to support any Senator in their quest to stand up for the Constitution. I know someday it will be as old as the Bible and folks will think it irrelevant but when that's the case I hope my descendants are still standing up for it.

It was my understanding that any EO is reversible. Since an EO is not a law any sitting president can void another's EO. It's just not done very much.

EO's have the "power of law" and are considered federal statutes by Fed courts. Overturning by congress requires 2/3's vote. Only two have been over turned by courts in our entire 200 + years of history.

POTUS has the best authority to overturn, redefine or abrogate prior EO's. I don't see how they are constitutional in my limited legal expanse, but the courts have ruled they are.

Anyone know how long it takes for Exec Orders to take effect? I've got an out of state transfer in the mail right now... Already paid for, not in my name yet. Uh-oh

I assume you're talking about a gun?

He won't be able to touch those ... well.

I take that back.

He can touch shotguns.

What kind of gun is it? :)

If Rep. Steve Stockman (R-Texas) wants to run for president, he has my vote. Anyone that will stand up to the traitor self appointed king is qualified in my book.

Actualy it looks like they are planning to throw everything they can think of at gun owners, and then see what they can make stick .

Can't do it by exectutive order you say - well , they'll try it anyway and hash it out over the coming years.

Largely signals a significant degree of backing off by the Administration for lack of legal grounds, available resources, and most especially political capital.

From the article:

The focus on executive orders is the result of the White House and other Democrats acknowledging the political difficulty of enacting any new gun legislation, a topic Biden did not address in Monday’s meeting.

The executive actions could include giving the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention authority to conduct national research on guns, more aggressive enforcement of existing gun laws and pushing for wider sharing of existing gun databases among federal and state agencies, members of Congress in the meeting said.

And:

“It was all focusing on enforcing existing law, administering things like improving the background database, things like that that do not involve a change in the law but enforcing and making sure that the present law is administered as well as possible,” said Rep. Bobby Scott (D-Va.).

It all indicates an attempt to lower the expectations of the anti-gun lobby and political base.

Some will stick, some may not, but it will create havoc for a long time to come I believe and I doubt the next POTUS if we have a next POTUS will likely not reverse much of it. That is the history of the GOP, fight a lame battle at the time and not correct the course by much at a later time when they get the chance. Just both parts of the same team against us.

We in Texas are going to use our chainsaws and cut around the border and push ourselves out into the gulf. Or at least that's my plan if I can find enough chainsaws.

When you are done with that, go to NY and CA and set them loose as well.
