Hiaboo, remind me not to tell you that I started carrying a pistol at 13. Off my family's land at 18 with a license.
The connection to age and carrying a handgun is made to to the fact he would be required to carry a handgun as part of his job as an LEO.Therefore, if he can carry one at 19 because he's LEO, why cant the rest of us "civillians" carry one until we're 21 (in all but a couple of states that is, WI NOT being one of them)? Thats where people are coming from there. Also, 5 out of 6 mags for my AR are 30 rounders, 1 is 20, so a reload may not have been needed (in fact, if he fired exactly 30 rds, I'd say its almost 100% likely he DID have a 30 rd mag, and 30 rds were fired because he fired until the gun was empty, as opposed to emptying a 20rd mag, relaoding, and onlyfiring exactly 10 more out of the next one.)There seems to be about 3 or 4 references to people under 21 carrying pistols in this thread...
Yet the article mentions this young man going out to his car to retrieve his AR 15. (I know this... I read the article.)
Also, the article mentions 30 rounds being fired.
It seems to me that 30 rounds would require (at least) one re-load.
So, I'm not getting the connection here between a right to carry a handgun/sidearm by someone under 21 and this guy going bat-sh*t insane with a rifle.
I agree. The notion that someone turned insane instantly is just ludicrous. Crazy people are deeply disturbed, and usually have been acting out for a long time before they get to this level of criminality.>The only thing that does shock me is that people

> pushed the right number of times.
I disagree pretty strongly with this. A sane person will NOT snap and turn into a murderer when taunted or verbally abused, even on his worst day. This is the kind of statement made by those who see a need to disarm us all, just for this type of reason.

Temporary insanity is something lawyers made up to give juries an excuse to let someone off the hook.
I'd be willing to bet this guy's former colleagues are wondering why when they noticed aberrant behavior from him, they chose to do nothing. not that any of them will be admitting it any time soon.
Politicians always love to do the "knee jerK" after an out-of-the-blue freak thing like this.
Just another law and/or regulation on the books that will accomplish nothing.
No law could stop something like this.
