Sparked by a worst you ever owned thread over on RFC it got the hamster wheel spinning to make one over here for the worst you ever owned.

Four different categories-

Worst pistol

Worst rimfire rifle

Worst centerfire rifle

Worst overall

So come on admit the lemons you've owned and express your shame for having them

Worst pistol:
One of the first production AMT Hardballers.

Worst rimfire rifle:
This is tough; I haven't had a bad one yet.

Worst centerfire rifle:
Again, I have not had one which would stand out as particularly bad.

Worst overall:
A catagory left out; a Baikal single barrel 12 gauge I bought in the early 70s. It was very worn, terrible headspace, and used to beat the middle finger with the openinglever/triggerguard so badly I had to bandage it up. And dreaded pulling the trigger.

I didn't keep it long.

pistol: ruger p-89

rimfire rifle: haven't had one that stands out as bad.

centerfire rifle: savage 110 in 7 rem mag

worst overall: savage 10 in 223 rem (no more savages for this kid... it might take an extra time or two, but i eventually learn).

Pistol: CVA brass framed 1851 Navy Cap-n-Ball.
Shot the frame loose after about 100rds. Then the bolt broke. Had to hold the cylinder BY HAND lined up with the bore to shoot it.
The worst part was when you got everything lined up right it shot very accurately. I'm talking 2" clusters at 20yds!

Rimfire rifle- Can't remember the exact name of the thing its been so long ago. It was an AR-15 .22LR look alike. Yeager something or other. Total P.O.S.
Jammamatic from the word go. Inaccurate. Lousy sights. Cruddy trigger.
Lasted may be 1200rds before it broke a spring. SUPRISE! parts obtanium infinitium.

Centerfire rifle- Remington semi-auto .30-06. Jammamatic. I was astounded how inaccurate a Remington could be. I'm talking 12-14" groups at 100yds.
Terrible trigger. Nothing I could do would help the poor thing so it got traded off.

Ooops almost forgot. The WORST overall would have been a Raven .25acp. Absolutely useless junk. Literally shot the barrel riflings out in less than 50rds! Jammamatic. Failure to feed. Failure to eject. You name the problem it had it. LMAO
Don't even think they would work as a fishing weight.

Worst pistol-
Mauser 1934 pocket pistol. Actually was nice but it jammed every round or two, seriously if the thing chambered a round without a jam I was tempted to do a happy dance.

Worst Rimfire-
A charter arms AR-7. Junk, total junk. Mag was sharp as anything, horribly inaccurate, jammed at least two or more times every hundred rounds, if I tightened the barrel in I had to fight with it and nearly plop a blood vessle to get it off, any looser and it would wobble around. Also on several occasions the thing went full auto on me. Also after the first time out the bolt handle up and fell out and ever since I had to be super careful or I'd loose it.

As for the others I haven't owned a centerfire rifle yet I haven't liked and the AR-7 kinda falls into the overall catagory at this point.

I havent been buying firearms long enough to have a worst. Since the reasons I come to buy a certain firearm are very researched I think when and if I do have a worst gun it will most defintly be a lemon type situation. Great thread though! Im looking forward to this!

I'm mostly pistols now, so I don't have a "worst" for most of your categories, but...

My walther P22. Comfortable, accurate, easy to shoot. Nice gun, if it weren't for it needing some light work with a file when I first got it to make it feed, and that it's now back at S&W for repairs after ~5000 rounds because double action only drops the hammer to half cock instead of firing.

*nothing* else has given me that kind of headache.

Rimfire handgun, haven't actually had a bad one. Same for centerfire rifle.

Had an old S&W M&P in .38S&W that someone turned out to have bleeped up the cylinder.

Rimfire rifle & overall, I double the vote on AR-7. Lots of misfires, lots of failures to eject, lousy materials in the barrel liner and firing pin design; if you accidentally dry-fired it, it would put a ding in the end of the chamber and make the extraction problems worse.

Only one bad one

And that was a used Iver Johnson break top .22. I think it was a "Viking" and they most have been the people that designed it. I was a tad too young to buy it myself so my mother did. It was the shakyest wobble weapon I ever owned. You could aim and shoot but where the bullet went was a crap shoot !! This was around 1958 or 59 if I recall. Taught me a lesson and I haven't bought junk since.

worst pistol: only owned one and it ws pretty good
worst rimfire rifle: marlin model 60w (switched to older glenfeild model 60 no problems)
worst centerfire: havent had any problems YET
worst shotgun: era 20 gauge single shot
worst black powder: hawkins 50 cal

but lie every thing else in life you win some you lose some

Worst pistol - toss up between Astra A-100, and Tec-22. Both junk.
Worst rinfire rifle - ditto the AR-7. Garbage.
Worst centerfire rifle - well, carbine for me, surprise - UZI model B. Jammamtic inaccurate pile of dung - sold it for WAY more than I paid for it.
Worst overall - Back to the Tec-22. Better used as landfill space filler.

Worst handgun: A Rossi .357 magnum about 8-9 years ago. Firing just a few rounds through it would loosen up the ejector rod so much that opening the cylinder it and the ejector rod could just fall to the ground. I tried locktight and so other liquid metal stuff but that didn't help so I just traded it in on something else. I won't ever own another again.

Worst Rimfire: I haven't really had one. I have a Feather AT22, A Kimber Rimfire Target, and years back had a bolt action Stevens. All funtioned great. I have been particularly impressed with the Feather. About 13 years ago I had my Feather and the magazine catch on it snapped off. I just tossed it in a closet and went on with my life while it collected dust and rust. About 2 years ago I was back visiting my folks and found that old Feather in the closet covet in cob webs and surface rust. I brought it back to Gainesville with me, gave it a good cleaning and then ordered a new magazine catch and a couple magazines. They arrived I swapped out the broken mag catch and took off to the range with some buds. The Feather shot flawlessly like it had just come out of the box. Definitely a great gun.

Worst Centerfire Rifle: Again, everthing that I have owned has been great. However, I do have a HK G3 that charging handle locks up after about a magazine of .308 has been put through it. I bought it used and haven't greesed and oiled it yet and haven't opened it to see if there is a problem with the internals yet so I think wrighting it off a junk is a little premature.

To me firearms are a lot like sex; the worst I ever had was still good.

Not when it causes injury!:what: I therefore elect my (former) Kel_Tec SUB2000 carbine, as it KABOOMED many times with aftermarket mags, causing many numb hands, and a few small scars......

Second is my POS Iver Johnson Cadet snubbie; spits lead like some metallic snake...I have friend who has a 6" version that does the same thing.

OK, I'll Play..

Snubby .22LR revolver..RG Brand, IIRC. Got 2 hits on a 9" paper plate as 2 YARDS...That's right, 2 Yards...6 feet shot 149 & 150

My OLD Marlin 99 that I bought as either the 4th or 20th owner, not sure. Couldn't go throught one tubular mag without a jam. Untill I got the action out of the stock, and cleaned oh I don't know...2 or 3 pounds of gunk out of it. And a new mag insert/follower assembly. Now it eats any ammo, all day long although it is best with the Federal American Eagle brand HP.

Marlin 1894 (?) in .44Mag. Had the dreaded "Marlin Jam" but I didn't know how to fix it then. Bought if for $100, sold it for $100, so no real loss. Sold it because I got quoted $150 to fix it.

Worst pistol and worst overall: AMT Hardballer.

Nothing else comes close.
In fact, I can't think of any for the other catagories.

Lets see...

Worst pistol: a Colt, don't remember the model but not a Python, 4 inch revolver that you could not hit a barn while inside with the doors and windows closed. The sad part is I swapped a very accurate GP100 for it.

Worst rifle: An excellent Swede Mauser that had a bent barrel from the factory. The stock bedding was perfect. No wonder it was in such nice condition, no accuracy.

Worst 22: I have a 22 auto, Westernfield, I picked up cheap, no wonder it sold cheap, problems with the trigger group and all the pins are peaned.

Worst shotgun: SWMBO gave me a Stevens double that shot 2 feet low when using the bead.....chris3

Worst pistol...cz70

Worst rimfire rifle...none

Worst centerfire rifle...none

Worst overall...Stevens 12ga SxS

I love all my guns equally, my children on the other hand.......:D

Just kidding, as of yet I have been lucky enough to have not bought a lemon (knock on wood). There have been several guns that I wanted to get but then later found out they were not worth it.

Walther P99 (the worst kick on a 9mm that I have ever fired)
the S&W .22 autos that my schools pistol team used (look cool until I saw 8 out of the 10 guns jam at least once in 10 rounds.)
The Vector Pistol (do not load under any circumstance)

A small .380 semi-auto - Every hollow-point hangs after ejection of the previous round. FMJ works but get FTF too often to waste my time any further. It could likely be corrected by gunsmithing but I don't have the time, skill or interest to do so. This convinced me that I never want to carry a .380 by any manufacturer but that is an unfair conclusion, I'm sure.

I bought six of these puppies directly from the manufacturer along with a couple of extended threaded barrels & muzzle brakes. I gave up after firing two so four are brand new. Now they're all permanently parked in my safe. Maybe I should sell them to some resourceful gunowner/gunsmith.

Worst pistol: Havent owned a pistol........yet.

Worst rimfire rifle: This POS Remington model 597. Its light, shoots awesome groups, and I love it to death, its just a jam-o-matic. I think its more of a magazine problem than anything.

Worst centerfire: All my center fires were great.

Worst overall: That darned jamming .22.

Worst

Knew better before I bought it but tried it anyway. Keltec in S&W.40. My initial hesitation was just too much punch for so tiny and light a gun. I was right in that respect although it was not unbearable for a backup but the clincher was FTFeed, fire, extract, and eject. Great dealer-swapped it and cash for my best(favorite) hunting rifle- Rem. Mod. 7 LLS in 7mm-08.

Worst handgun? <covers head> Ruger MK II. No matter what I did, I could NOT re-assemble the stupid thing :banghead: Cleaning is nearly as important as shooting and it was not fun to clean. Not a bad gun, but probably the one that made me the most unhappy and I still won't buy another. It's the Browning Buck Mark for me!

Worst rimfire rifle - ditto the AR-7 again. It's still in my garage and I'm thinking of cutting it up into pieces and tossing it out in various locations.

Worst centerfire? None, yet. Keeping my fingers crossed.
