Worst Pistol

How about a Jennings 22 with all due respect to the people at Jennings.

Worst rimfire rifle: This POS Remington model 597. Its light, shoots awesome groups, and I love it to death, its just a jam-o-matic. I think its more of a magazine problem than anything.

Their is a thread on rimfirecentral about how to fix the mag yourself. Mine wouldn't run a clip of ammo without a jam. I gave their rec. a try and now I have ran 500 rounds through it without a hiccup/

The worst handgun I ever had was a Desert Eagle .50. That thing would throw the ejected shells in your face. And the fixed sights were dead on, at 200 yards.

The worst 22lr rifle I ever owned was a M1 carbine look a like, I think it was made by mossberg? That thing just couldn't be made to reliably feed.

I don't think I ever had a bad centerfire rifle.

The worst overall had to be the Desert Eagle. For the amount of money I shelled out I was expecting a much better gun. I did sell it for $150 more than I gave for it though.

Worst Pistol :
RG .38spl. Sometimes the lead exited from the muzzle...Estate Sale, gun later de-activated , painted blue and used for teaching and training.

Worst Rifle :
Ruger 10/22. Estate sale -Somehow the bbl was busted near muzzle and rusty!
I wanted the nice deluxe wood, someone else wanted the action to build a gun for his kid, he had a new bbl, and new syn stock to fit his kid done up. I paid $17, fella wanted $25, he couldn't break a $50 bill...he took the $17.

Worst Shotgun :
Roadside Flea Market:
This was grounds for someone getting hung, shot, then hung again. Estate sale, Browing Citori 20 ga, had been <cringe> nice wood not only had a rasp taken to it, nice finish sanded down, the blue...<cringe> someone took a Brillo pad to it.
I paid <ready> $100 for this gun, and gave it to someone whom sent it to Browning for a total re-do. It was a sentimental reason why he wanted this Citori and Browning was more than reasonable, and understanding in re-doing this gun.

Worst Flyrod:
Roadside Flea Market
Winchester Bamboo that was broken. I knew someone that collected fine bamboo rods. He epoxied it back , cleaned it up and used as a wall decoration in his business. I paid $1 for that "old timey wooden bream pole".

The worst Pistol honors are a tie between a Colt Python I bought new around 1978-79. I could not chamber more than 3 rounds as the cylinder was rough . I bought a S&W Sigma when they first came out - the best ergonomics of any gun I had but would not put any 2 shots even remotely close to each other. I have never had a bad 22 or centerfire rifle. In my case though I have had many more pistols than rifles or shotguns.

Worst Pistol: I love this thread whenever it pops up (annually?) as it allows me to once again bash the AT-84. For those of you fortunate enough to never have heard of this nightmare, it was sort of an Italian-made, Swiss designed copy of a high-capacity 9mm - maybe their idea of a CZ variant?

Looked nice, GREAT writeup in one of the gun magazines, and, on its best day might, MIGHT fire two rounds in a row without a failure to fire, failure to feed, failure to eject, etc.

A trip to the importer's so-called gunsmith and it was returned with a tag saying I was limp-wristing it.

Yeah, right. It was so bad that when I traded it for a S&W model 10 I actually told the shop that the darn thing was no good.

Grrr .. Arrrgh....

My worst rifle was a Savage 11fns w/accutrigger .308 win. I bought the gun new, and started loading for it rite awat expecting stellar accuracy everybody allways talks about from savage. 1.25" CTC was the best it would do, 1.5" was the norm. I sent that one packing after 3 very frusterating months.

My worst shotgun was a used remington Model 11 sportsman. The gun was a chronic jammer, nothing helped, and the jams were never consistant. I sent it packing at later bought a Browning A-5 that runs flawlessly.

My worst rimfire was a remington 522 Viper, I bought it new from k-mart (lets say I was a little naive), It turned outto be one of the ones that diddent go boom when you pulled the trigger that remington later recalled. Somehow I convined the store manager to give mea refund, I used the money tobuy a 10/22.

My AR-7 isn't too bad-as long as it is _clean_ and it also helped immeasurably chamfering the barrel slightly to improve feeding. As a plinker it's a stinker but given its original purpose I guess it would probably help you kill a squirrel or 2 before becoming unreliable enough to want to use on yourself hence it's ~ok~ as a survival gun.I'd rather carry a MKII or P22 even in a ziplock bag than the AR-7 however-even add a chunk of foam so I could brag that it'd float too. It's more of a novelty than a real gun to me anyway so it doesn't really count.

I had a Remington Viper in the 90's that would carbon foul before I was through with a single box and would become downright unusable before I got through 2.Of course at the time I was in highschool and the extra $ for a 10/22 seemed substantial-false economy at its finest.

I haven't had any truly bad pistols. My Beretta 9000 doesn't like WWB but it's not the biggest deal ever.A brand new, less than a full box of .32 through it, Bryco took itself apart in my hand and the owner told me that I could have it...but I declined his kind offer.

Worst pistol - KelTec P32
Worst rimfire - never had a bad one
Worst centerfire rifle - Remington 7400 SP
Worst overall - easily the Remington 7400

Don't yet own a rifle, and I have 1 shotgun. I currently have 4 of the 5 hand guns that I have ever purchased. I like all of the but 1, so it's easy to determne the worst. The Kel-tec P11. I bought it based on numerous write ups, and owner's comments, never having fired the gun (I know, big mistake). Since I was planning on getting my CCW. I wanted a poket pistol, since I live in Vegas, and my other guns may be difficult to conceal in the summer. The Kel-tec does fit this requirement, and is 9mm. So those were it's positives. But I have since found that it jams a lot (better now after a fluff and buff). The trigger pull is horrrendous, and rubs a spot on my finger when I shooot for practice. I have to wear a band aid to keep this from happening. And, when I field strip it, it's almost impossible to get back together. I was so embarassed when I took it back to the dealer in pieces after cleaning. Then, the dealer took 15 minutes to get it back together (and HE CARRIES ONE!), so I didn't feel so bad. But I like to clean my guns after each range visit, something that I just won't be able to do with this gun. I'm going to see if I can get by using my Glock 26 in a pocket holster, but I have a feeling that my pocket will be bulging. I may end up saving for the Kahr. Since I only would get half of what I paid for it if I trade t in, I may just keep the P11 for a trading gun if the S**T hits the fan, and I need to barter.

You're not going to believe this, but:

Worst Pistol was a NIB Sig 220. That piece of junk wouldn't reliably feed FMJ. It kinda' soured me on any Sig product. I traded it for a Glock 19, best trade I ever made.

Easily my old Tec-9. Another one to file under 'failure to everything'.

When it wasn't stovepiping, failing to extract, or trying to chamber the next round sideways it was busy not being able to hit the broad side of two barns nailed together.

Another one to disbelieve

A Colt AR-15 HBAR Match. Biggest pos in the world. Wouldn't feed, wouldn't extract and wouldn't eject three times in a row. Sweet singleshot 0.75 inch groups, though.

Qweered me on ARs for 10 years. Rock River cured it though, and now I've got ARs in several makes and configurations. But not a single Colt.:)

Worst Rimfire Handgun: H&R 999; really haven't had many bad ones.
Worst Centerfire Handgun: Probably a Glock 22; not very accurate. Need to ship it to Glock for some attention. Works fine.
I have had lots that I have never shot, but traded off for various reasons. Purchased mainly for trading material at shows.
Worst Rimfire Rifle: Never had a bad one.
Worst Centerfire Rifle: Maybe the Mini UZI Carbine; just never liked it. Worked just fine. I just couldn't hit anything past 25 yds with it. Not my cup of tea.

Worst pistol: Some cheap .25 from 20 years ago. Failure to everything fits. Would have been better off carrying a brick.

Worst rimfire: Marlin Model 60 (after several thousand rounds :neener: )

Worst Centerfire: Knock on wood.

Worst Overall: Mossberg model 500 twelve gauge. Failure to eject on every other (maybe 2 out of 3) round. It got so bad that I could fire one shot, ram out the spent, and get off one more before the ducks got away. :cuss: :banghead: :fire: If I had to hunt with one now, I would stay home. I can't see why anyone wouldn't spend the extra 50 frns and get an 870. (BTW, I've had 3 of them, with no special care, 2 of which are worn slap out, and never had ANY problem.)

The crazy thing is, I had one of those potmetal .25 pistols (it was actually cast brass :what: ) that functioned flawlessly for the 1k rounds or so I shoved through it before I was too poor to feed the thing anymore.

An FIE E-28. Not quite a Ring of Fire piece - It was actually made in Florida. It looked like something that came out of a gumball machine, but it worked and it was fun to shoot.

Eat Beef: Man, you must have got yourself a lemon. I had a Mossberg and I know plenty of other people that do, and I've told and been told plenty of stories of people who wind up dragging their Mossys through lakes, drop them in mud, creeks, bash 'em on rocks, and wind up taking the shot that wins the day later on. I never had a lick of trouble with mine, even when it was so dirty that the lifter was black with fouling!

Worst rifle

Remington 522. .22LR auto loader with a trigger only a lawyer could love and a magazine disconnect to boot. Accurate, but only from the bench because of the trigger. But what good is a .22 from a bench? Long gone and replaced with a bolt action Marlin tube feed.

Zero DGZ,

I have three cousins who swear by their Mossy's, and they USE them. I've also had three friends take 'em out of the box and have FTFs and FTEs.

Plus the dang things are so sloppy. Everything is loose, loose, loose.

I guess my point is, I've never heard many complaints about 870's, so why chance it for 50 bucks?

I'm more worried about home defense than hunting now. A problem while dove hunting is one thing. A problem when someone is in your house is a whole nuther subject.

Worst pistol is a toss-up between a Seecamp .32 that won't eat anything but silvertips, and some no-name .22 snubbie without a crane. You have to reach around in front of the muzzle and unscrew the cylinder pin, and then use the pin to pop out spent casings. The hammer coming up in DA actually obscures the sights, so you'd better be real close, or good at point shooting. Throw in what I think was a 12# trigger pull, and you've got it. I couldn't hit a pie plate at 6' with that thing. Luckily, neither of these guns belong to me.

Worst BP gun was a Navy model of unknown origin, probably from Zero_DgZ's pistol manufacturer. It was pretty much all brass, and firing it would produce a shower of parts more dangerous than the ball. It looked cool, all shiny and such, but it was about as useful as a one-legged man at a butt-kicking contest.

Worst rifle was a buddy's Winchester '73. I got all excited when I saw it on the wall, but I was infuriated when I got close enough to discover that it was a pewter replica.

Oh boy---where do we start???

Worst pistol(s):
IAI aka AMT 1911 copy in .40 cal
Browning Buckmark
Raven
and yes a SIG P245

Worst rimfire rifle(s):
Marlin 795
Remington Viper--even though it never really gave me any problems--it was still a crappy gun.

Worst centerfire rifle(s):
Several Remington 700's---none ever lived up to the hype or what they were cracked up to be.

Worst overall--
I'll have to think about this---trying to remember back to which one left me feeling the most let down.

The worst gun I've ever owned is a F.I.E .38 derringer. It shoots strait but sometimes fires both barrels at once. it also hits the top fireing pin so hard I'm scared to shoot it anymore for fear that the pin will go through the primer. I've never had a bad 22. but I do have a CETME I'm not particurlly fond of. It shoots fine but some mags don't work/stick and the reciever pin holes are crooked which makes stripping and reassembly a real chore. and to top it all off I paid twice as much as what it was worth! :banghead:

Worst pistol: AMT Backup (.380). Despite all reasonable (and unreasonable) efforts it was never more than a single shot pistol. Jammed every time.

Dishonorable Mention: Taurus 22 LR revolver.

Worst rimfire rifle: Never owned a bad one

Worst centerfire rifle: Never owned a bad one

Worst centerfire...Savage 116 300 Win Mag. I got the package gun, and the scope was broken before I bought the gun (I got a discount), then the stock started coming loose after 8 rounds (re-tightened twice) then the bolt assembly started to come loose (had to re-tighten about 3 times before it would stay together), the stock was the weakest synthetic I have ever use (deep scratches just by scrapping bushes), and the bolt also squeaked when I shut and locked it down. I tried lubing it, but it still did it when I sold it. It soured me from buying another Savage...ever.

Worst pistol= tie between the Helwan , Jennings 25, and RG 22.
Worst rimfire rifle= none, all worked well.
Worst centerfire rifle= Ruger Mini 14
All my other guns do just fine.
Steve 48

A Phoenix Arms P22. Broke while being cleaned. Still in the lovely cardboard box it came in. Has a life time warranty but I've never been able to justify the cost of shipping it to be repaired. :)

It's a gun shaped paperweight.
