I assume this was aimed at me.. Let me tell you a story about Dogs. I was walking to a local store in a ice storm about 8 years down the street and a neighbor decided that she was gonna open her back door to alow her 120 lb Rot out to relieve himself. I was about 60' from her back door.. As soon as the dog got outside he spoted me and IMMEDIATLY ran towards me barking. I was NOT carrying this night and knew that if he got me on the ground I could be in trouble so as he got near I firmed my footing and turned awy so that to pretect my face and th edog lunged at me and took a chunk of my buttocks( I can laugh now) and then ran back to th ehouse. I never lost my footing and there was no time to 'stare ' him down.. I guess he was lucky I was not carrying my K40 that night.. And ya wnder why i would shoot next time??

To whom it concerns
You're welcome to kill my dog if it gets away from me and needlessly threatens you. I'll take the blame, learn from my mistake, and think twice before I buy another one. It's my bad and your safety is more important than that of any animal.

Won't happen though since I do assume the responsibility for her safety. If the dog has a good reason to be attacking you then you've got a lot more than just a dog bite to worry about.

I've faced down several mean dogs. Given time to think about it they've always backed down. If I ever do feel the need to shoot one it will happen without any prior consideration for what the worthless owner or some faceless society might desire.

I'm a "crackpot and wierdo" at heart but unfortunately I live in the city. I have to keep Buck on a rope when he is outside. I used to have him trained on a radio fence but neighbors kept cutting the perimeter wire when they did landscaping or fencing. After about five years he "forgot" where the perimeter was.

I do have several Beware of Dog signs up around the yard so there is fair warning that a dog will be announcing their presence. He is a barker not a biter but I know he would bite if he were kicked or hit. If anyone shot my dog while he was tied up they would have mucho problems with me and the popo.

I don't want anyone around my house unannounced. Family know to call first and overfriendly coworkers and others are encouraged not to stop by.
:what:

I'd yell "HEY! LOOK OUT, DON'T STEP ON MY DOGS!"

Cockerspaniel is about 6, cockapoo is about 16, and my Chinese Crested running at someone could only cause harm by means of a hysterical-laugh-induced heart attack.

I was riding my bicycle

as a bike messenger in SF. I passed this lady stuck in traffic and her rottie
leaned out the window and bit me.
Fortunately for her it did not break thru my leather jacket and that I love dogs.
I got off my bike stuck my head in the window and told the dog "I will bite your nose off"..well I actually screamed this at the poor doggie,it was so shocked it backed up and whimpered....The lady was quite scared as well but I think she has her doggie under control now.
My current dog is a real wimp, well it will chase skunks and cats, but it allways loses.
Inside the house is a different story,it becomes fierce attack doggie, only it's farts are the only thing left thats deadly on the ol girl.

Naw, that wasn't aimed at anyone in particular FlyinGN. I don't always have time to read all the previous posts.

You turned your back to an attacking dog? :what: That's gotta hurt!

I came very close to losing the family jewels to a dobie once. Knocked her unconscious a millisecond before she could clamp her jaws shut. I'm superior to any dog, sometimes they do need to be reminded of that.

well, the last second I turned to protect my face and family jewels:) Like I said it was on ice and I was so concentrating on keeping my footing after a 125 lb Rot made contact.. Which I did
