What is your ultimate range bag? I am getting tired of dragging a tote around with targets, ammo, etc. I want something I can load up several hundred rounds of ammo, ear muffs, screw drivers, cleaning supplies, targets, glasses. Maybe a Molle backpack would work?

A moderate size tool box with large wheels and an extensible handle assuming you have decent surfaces between vehicle and shooting range. I can get all the stuff you list plus shooting bags, chronograph, small tripod, spotting scope, a stapler etc in there and it rolls on anything from concrete to gravel parking lots.

I also use a Shooters Connection Tournament Series Shooting Bag (https://www.shootersconnectionstore...rnament-Series-Shooting-Bag-PRO-II-P4512.aspx) but that is very much focus on practical pistol competition. That said you could easily get all the stuff you list in that bag and it would be well organized.

Check Home Depot or Lowe's for rolling tool box's.
mcb has a great idea, some of the tool box's are stackable with two or more sections.

I would prefer a bag of some type because I often shoot with two buddies at either my club or theirs and trying to drag a box around in someone else's vehicle doesn't seem appealing.

There are purpose-built range bags, but, as silly as it sounds, diaper bags tend to have a lot of different-sized pockets, and a shoulder strap.

Hi...
I use several different range bags.
Probably the best is the one the NRA sells.
Room for all kinds of equipment, multiple firearms, ammunition and eat protection.
Telescoping handle and rollers. Gets used every weekend.

Ready for Wednesday’s range visit.
Homemade Pachmayr Gun box, thrift store bag.
Only three guns tomorrow.
A mix of cap and ball and cartridges.

That’s a super looking rig. Must be outstanding quality at that price. Unless you have a supply, pistol rugs for each pistol carried. Additional cost. I would not trust gun socks for transport. Assuming it’s for hand guns.

Yeah, I'm on the fence here. I actually love the way my large range bag organizes stuff, but when you consider all the stuff that lives in the bag and then add in the ammo and guns per trip, it's gets to be a bit much on the shoulder, especially if you've got any walk to the range or line. And I generally take two or three guns handguns per outing and sometimes a rifle, too, so ...
I do have some rugs and simple soft cases, but I'd reckon all the small gear I usually carry would also have to be organized and pouched/bagged within that big tool big.
Could end up being both expensive and counterproductive in terms of organization and quick accessibility while actually at the range.
Trying to puzzle it all out in my tiny melon. Challenging stuff.

The further along age wise you get the more attractive wheels on heavy things become. ;)
I like wheels on heavy things. Take a gander at that nifty little dolly I’ve posted. HD I think less than $20. Folds up flat for hanging in the garage on lying flat in a trunk.

True stuff.
That Milwaukee dolly you've got looks cool. Remember where you found it?

Then why not buy just a cart and put your beloved range bag on it.
It's what I do and it's work for years now, and once you get to the firing line just lift you bag off the cart and put it on the bench.

Cart with fold out side wings $30:

Search amazon for one with bigger wheels

I'm going to look at some in person (as I said a couple of posts up).
Not all that sure, though. Had one of those black carts once that I actually used in airports. Maybe I just had the wrong one, but it didn't last but a few months.
Maybe I'll just keep toting my range bag and move the ammo into an ammo can, since I've got multiples of those.

I have the GPS roller bag. Works great. I've rigged a cardboard target carrier to the back which I'll get pictures of later this morning when we do our range trip. Very heavy duty and been in weekly use for about 2.5 years.

I've also got a pelican vault for pistols. The roller bag gets really heavy so I try and not put my pistols in it to reduce that weight. I always take 600 rounds minimum for handgun and often it's 1000 for the trip.

I’m guessing some of you guys never heard of the “minimalist” concept...or clearly choose to ignore it..

But I see it this way...when I go to the range alone, I only bring a few guns I plan to focus on, be they rifles or handguns, and 4 trips out of 5, I’ll only have handguns. I have an ammo bag that originally a tool bag I got when I bought my cordless drill. Sturdy and holds as much ammo as an ammo can.

I have three different gear bags, a MidwayUSA large and medium bag and a Maxpedition type small bag. Unless I’m bringing (hosting) other people with me, I only grab one bag depending on the guns I plan to shoot.

this is the “medium bag I use 75% of the time. My wife has her own bag this size. We’ve had them for 10+ years and they are still serving well!

This is a lot like the smallest bag I use and is a great little range bag for a couple handguns and stuff:

I’ve bought a few LAPG “bailout bags” for gear a few years ago and are excellent value for a smallish bag. Good assortment of colors too:

All are house brands that regularly go on sale...

YMMV

I'm so confused. Am I going minimalist if I fill a single bag so full it's hard to carry? It's only ONE bag, after all.
Concepts ... not sure I'm ready for 'em. o_O

Nice bags all
Not sure how having 3 bags, all different, qualifies as minimalist concept as I would need 3 of everything common to a range trip (1 in each bag) or risk a range trip needing something in a different bag:cuss:.
3 staplers, 3 boxes of staples, 3 rolls of pasters, 3 sets of screw drivers, and on and on, not very minimalist to me.
The reason I only have one big aircraft carrier sized range bag, separate ammo bags($5 tool bags) and use a folding luggage dolly to move all that stuff around at once.:uhoh:
:D

Great points...not sure ‘minimalist” was the right term...

I do have different bags that serve different purposes...meet different needs. But I generally use the smallest bag I can...

I maintain all my range gear in the large bag...and transfer stuff to the smaller bags whe I use them
