    $569.00 6" 686?

In a Galyan's a few days ago I saw some seven-shot 686s in two barrel lengths for $499.

    Beretta 1934??

I have never shot one, but the late gun scribbler Robert T. Shimek has said that they are very prone to hammer and slide bite on your shooting hand. And the slide lock-open mechanism (it wedges open on the magazine follower) is a nuisance.

What should I get for my first gun...

Well, that's a pretty wide disparity of guns, encompassing both rifles and handguns in different calibers, and you will probably not be able to buy an HK33 in California, or an M2 Carbine anywhere unless you have a Class III license (the M2 is the fully automatic version ;)). For your very...

Bought my first CZ ... a new 2075 RAMI in .40

High Noon Holsters shows some models of their IWB holsters for the RAMI. If you see a model you like that does not specifically show your gun, contact them and they will likely make it for you.

    Most accurate snubby?

Snub revolvers are not inherently or mechanically inaccurate. They are harder to get good fast hits with because of poor sights, small grips and sharp recoil, especially the lightweight ones. Although larger and heavier, the Ruger SP101 and Colt Detective Special are easier to hit with.

    New Glock 17

Your "muscle memory" has been attuned to the 1911 grip angle for a long time, so the Glock will point high. If you dedicate yourself to the Glock for a while, it will feel more natural. Then, when you shoot your 1911, it will point low. ;) FWIW, Robar Industries can reshape the Glock...

1911: Is there such a thing?

In Massad Ayoob's 2003 Complete Book of Handguns (a Harris publication), there is an article entitled "Lookin' Cool With Your Kimber" whose owner (a student in Ayoob's school) did just that. Cylinder & Slide did the work on it. It cost him nearly a grand, this on top of the price of the gun...

Which 1911 is the closest to JMB's design?

The Colt WWI replica is, as the name implies, a nearly exact reproduction of the original pistol as produced before the "-A1" changes. If you can actually obtain one. ;) And not cheap.

    Accuracy...Springfield XD9 or Glock 19?

I would expect both guns to have about the same accuracy when shot from a bench or a machine rest. Practical accuracy (the ability of the gun and shooter to get fast center hits) is an individual matter. The two guns differ greatly in trigger action and grip angle.

    Why do you like DAO?

On balance, I like DAO autos if they have a short and light trigger stroke, which the Smith DAOs do. (It is shorter and lighter than the typical DA pull of a traditional DA/SA pistol.) The advantage, for me, is the same pull for every shot, with no need for the DA to SA transition. A...

Second thoughts about the PPK/S -- Opinions needed / Poll

The Kahr is closest in size and shape to the Walther, is comfortable to shoot (it has a more ergonomic contoured grip and does not leave "slide tracks" across your hand), has an external slide stop lever, is reliable (usually) and shoots a more powerful cartridge. For some types of carry, the...

    Federal Hydra-shock 124+p+

This is a law enforcement load, #P9HS3G1. Is this what you have? If you have a reliable source for it and it feeds reliably in your gun, I see no reason not to use it.
