I call Shenanigans....No other news outlet in New Orleans has made any mention of this. Nothing on the City of New Orleans government website. Nothing on Cantrell's Facebook page.
Look harder. I posted this here before. Here it is again.

I guess its happening...pulled this from the mayor's Facebook page

Still think it's odd the only place it's being advertised is on the mayor's Facebook, and i highy doubt its $500 per gun, looks like $500 max per person.

How do you show proof of residency without showing something that identify's you?

I guess I'd only show the bottom line of an address, town and zip code.

$500 max per person, is that for multiple guns or one gun?

It says max $500 per person and mentions bringing multiple guns.
I doubt they're shelling out 5 bills for one firearm. Nothing in that announcement indicates that.

It is $500 for one gun. You cannot get more than $500 for additional guns. You get $500 for any working firearm. You can give them as many as you want.

If they wanted to buy back the guns, why did they sell them to these people in the first place? Ah-Ha! sell high-buy low, now I understand.

OK, 23 minutes is pretty good proof that they had no other intention than creating a sound bite for personal political enrichment.

Shame they had people leave their homes and waste their time for the betterment of some lame politician.

I wonder about the mood of the people lined up around the block that were then told they are out of money.
A crowd of frustrated people carrying many guns. Seems like a recipe for a problem.
