    A knife for a cop

I bought a Florida Highway Patrol commemorative C.R.K.T. Kit Carson M-16-14 like this on eBay for $20 bucks years ago. http://www.crkt.com/M16-14-Titanium-Tanto-AutoLAWKS-Combo-Edge?&search_id=1631811 It was too huge, too heavy to carry in a pocket, sharp like a razor, but too big for...

Shot the scope off of my Beeman R7

Been using it daily for squirrel control the last few weeks. And put 20 rounds through it yesterday re-checking zero. Nothing abnormal. So, this evening I whacked two more squirrels at about 20 yards. Then noticed the scope had slipped back until the rear ring was clear off the receiver...

    Newer S&W Question

A friend ask me a question I can't answer today. He has a new Model 69, and it has 2 small blind holes inside the ejector rod shroud on the barrel. My Model 625-6 has 1 small blind hole. What are they there for???? rc

    1934 Mauser?

Buddy picked one up yesterday in really nice condition, with holster and two mags. Serial # 469xxx. Gun is nicely engraved OH1 on the front of the grip, and holster is stamped with the same, which I believe is a pre-war police unit marking. But I have been unable to find any reference to it...

    Locked up a Leek

Went to open it yesterday and it was locked shut tighter then the north end of a southbound gnat!! Couldn't open it pulling on the thumb studs. Couldn't open it prying on it with a SAK screwdriver blade!!! Finally went to the shop and blew it out with an air hose, and still couldn't open it...

Good LED headlamp for night hunting, or whatever?

I find myself in need of a better LED headlamp. Inexpensive, but better then what I have now. I have a cheap Eveready now. But, the 'bug-eye' twin lens reflect badly off my glasses and make it difficult to see down while walking. I have it taped up on the bottom with black tape to cut the...

Interesting story in March Rifle magazine

A dual chambered rifle barrel. 6mm Rem on one end, and 6mm PPC on the other. Threaded on both ends for a Model 70 push feed receiver. Using either end of the barrel, groups were really good, and hitting practically in the same POI. (1 hole groups.) Who woulda thunk! rc

    The evolution of handgun sights?

I've been pondering this for some years. While cleaning 4 Colt Woodsman tonight I noticed the progression of handgun sights over the last 89 years. 1927 6" Target = 1/16" gold bead front and tiny U- notch rear. (I can't begin to see.) 1936 4" Sport = 1/10" front and square notch rear. ( I can...

    Aimpoint PRO mini-review

The Aimpoint PRO I ordered in December arrived today. So far, I really like it. Pro: * Bright clear dot. (Even too bright in direct sun at highest setting.) * 30,000 hour (3.4 year) battery life when left turned on. * Military grade heavy duty construction, and waterproof to 150 feet. *...

    Powder coated bullets??

I wonder if anyone has done any long term testing of the abrasion effects of powder coated bullets?? We know from history that grease lubed lead bullets don't wear out barrels like jacketed bullets. (Because the friction is much less with the grease lubed bullets.) But what about the color...

    New 2016 Alliant reloading Guide

Received it in the mail today for some unknown reason?? (Or maybe I ask for one last year and never got one?) Anyway, it is a very nicely bound square back book, 120 pages, on heavy slick paper. And includes much more data than my old 2009 one!! BTW: All the Dots and Unique and 2400 are still...

    Speed Beez .22 speed loaders

Ordered a pair for my .22 S&W Kit Gun 4 days ago. Arrived today, and would have been 3 days but for the Monday holiday yesterday. http://speed-beez.webstorepowered.com/ Gotta say I am impressed with the quality! But for $29.95 ea, I would expect no less. They work as advertised with...

    I killed Bob

Under my truck engine in a Conibear trap this evening. I have seen him around for a while. Even seen him fall out of trees, and off power lines because he had no tail for balance. Looked like a rabbit or Guiana pig hopping around on the ground. Doubt he would have made it through winter...

Those old favors can bite you in the axx!!

About 15 years ago, a casual friend bought a 6.5 Jap Arisika rifle and had no ammo, and couldn't get any. So I offered to help him reload for it if he bought a set of dies & some Norma brass, which was available. We (he, with me supervising) loaded 100 rounds. We test fired 10 rounds, then he...
