According to my Chrony F1, average muzzle velocity was 1114 fps, with an ES of 77 and SD of 32. Book data says I should be able to wring some additional velocity out of it; Lyman #48 says 16.2 grains is max with an MV of 1300+ fps, and the Lyman Cast Bullet Manual 3rd edition indicates I could go as high as 18.8 grains at which level they got 1272 fps. Gordon's Reloading Tool says I probably have some room to go up before hitting dangerous pressure levels, but I have read that 2400 can be spiky at the upper end. I tested as high as 6.1 grains and got very little additional speed, so I stopped there. A couple hundred more fps isn't going to kill a deer any deader, anyway.

I've been utilizing the same bullet, launched by 10 gr LongShot - yielding about 1200 fps. With current and impending powder shortage,
my LGS has some 2400 in stock - but not LongShot. Might pick up another canister or 2 of 2400 [primarily use it in 357 and 45-70].

Several years ago they had an internal lock that was only accessible by removing the grips. As I recall, their New Model Flattops were some of the ones that had it, but I'm pretty sure others did as well. IIRC they no longer do this.

“No Lock” means, no factory provided trigger cable

I vaguely remember that, I was thinking more of an external lock. A lock under the grips wouldn't be a PITA

Wrong, unless it's a used gun. There has been a federal law in effect since 2005 that requires sales of all new handguns to include a lock.

Just acquired another .41 magnum. This one is a field grade Freedom Arms M83 with 7.5” barrel. It was in ‘like new’ condition. Plan is to leave it naked, without any type of optics. Needs a trigger job and I have a custom front sight blade on the way from Fermin.

The best performer is my TC/ Contender 10 inch barrel in .41 Rem. Mag. I can load my own
using H110 powder with Hornady’s 210 XTP. They do all you would ask of that package.

I still rely on my 1973 vintage S&W Mod. 58 . It is in top notch ( shooter) condition. Heluva lotta
bluing left after serving as my Tavern protector & my always loaded home defense gun.
That 4 incher finished off … two game animals on exotic Ranch Hunts. So a ton of sentimental value there.
