Seems to me there is little correlation between restricting honest citizens rights and lowering crime.

^ Good illustration.

I'm ashamed to say that my State (NC) is #13. Looking at some of those on the list ahead of us doesn't comfort me very much--i.e. "We're not quite as bad as all out anti-gun States."

The average brady rank for a state on the "top 10 for safety" is a rank of 9.3 per state.

The average rank for a state on the "worst 10" list is 12.6 (obviously Maryland throws this average off.)

...not that it means anything. But I thought it was an interesting average.

yeah, I guess that if DC were a state, then they'd be ranked #1 ahead of California. But with the Heller decision, they'd come in at #1 with a score of 80-90 rather than the complete-ban score of 100. Having dropped from 100 to 90, I guess their sky-high murder rate is probaby going to double now - they should have no problems getting back ahead of Detroit & Baltimore with the Heller decision which will surely cause the streets to run red with blood.

I am in Maine. I seen the article in our local paper. Says we can buy a gun at a gun show with no background check. I have got several at gun shows and have always had to have a background check. I think they are focusing 100% on face to face sales. Thats the antis for ya. If they have there way , we'll be a disarmed society. Just my 2 cents , Bob

Why hasn't the news media pointed out that since most states have allowed people to CCW's the crime rate has gone down. Why hasn't the news media pointed out that less than .02% of all people with concealed carry license were charged with a weapons violation last year. The liberal press supports control, thats why.

AND ... their scorecard is spinning the actual conditions!

They give CA 10 points for "one handgun a month, no exceptions". Not true - there are 2 exceptions, 1 for LEO and 1 for C&R licensees with Ca Cert. of Eligibility. -7

They give it 5 for "microstamping". That's in the law, but not yet in effect and probably won't go into effect. -5

They give 2 points for "external locks sold with all handguns". That's Federal, so either every state gets it, or no state gets it. Aside from Federal law (18 USC 922 (z)) CA allows a gun safe to be substituted. -2

They give 2 points for "local control of firearm regulations". That's false. -2

79 -16 = 63 -- That's still tied for "first" with New Jersey, dadgummit!

Dadgummit, a bunch of economists and statiticians have infiltrated the perimeter. All I want to do is clean my guns, shoot my guns and clean them afterwards.

All that said, I like the Brady's doing my relocation research. Usually Arkansas sends a thank you card to Mississippi and Louisiana for "backing" us up on education reform and leaving all the childlings behind, but for once, it is nice to be ranked lower. :neener:

Proud to be last. My alma mater's mascot runs around shooting a gun in the air during football games. Classic.

OMG ! Georgia is moving down becasue the Governor, with an over whelming support of the state legislature, passed a revised carry law!!

How come Arkansas ranks last or next to last on almost every state ranking I see, now when I want us to be last we are 36....not bad though

Thanks to all for the great statistics showing them wrong. Now lets set our goal on all states being 0
Time to get involved people!
