Buds guns... Twice bitten

I tried to give 4 locals a crack at it and none were within $200
So Bud's saved you $200 bucks but took a few extra days? You are impatient.

Next time, if the wait is that big of a deal to you, plunk down the extra $200 and walk away with it.

I bet the wait time means less than the money, am I right?

I'm not trying to be a jerk, but I don't feel that you have the right to complain here.

Kc shooter, I just expect people to do what they say..... They claim shipping inside 7 business days.... It's been over that now both times.... Guess I'm impatient because companies don't deliver what they say.... Do you do what you say or no? If you don't, that explains you siding with companies who also aren't honest....

One thing I've noticed since Bud's went to that "VIP" membership crap....people are having more problems getting stuff they order on time. Unless they're a VIP member.

I've never had a problem with Bud's, but that was before the VIP program started.

Yes it is. I too am one of the lucky ones whose LGS can always match and many times beat online dealers in new gun prices. The words usually, generally and normally are all vague adjectives when it comes to describing customer service. If they would have stated "we always" or "guarantee" shipping within 7 days, then I'd be a bit miffed. 99% of the talk I hear of Bud's is positive, both here on the internet and from folks I know personally. As for waiting a few more days to save $200, 'ell, I do it in a heartbeat. I waited 3 months for my LGS to get a new 637 when they were hard to find cause their price was $90 less than the only other place I knew of that had 'em. ($360 compared to $450). I still feel it was worth it.

Ah, I see.
Now they, and myself inclusively because I find your complaining to be without merit, are dishonest. Because they took a couple extra days than they normally do, yet saved you $200.

Ordered on a Thursday or Friday, that would mean it would ship a week from the next Monday or Tuesday. 12 days. Yet only 7 business days. Are you claiming it took 12 BUSINESS days for them to ship, or just 12 days?

I take dishonesty seriously. I'm just not so sure they are the ones being dishonest in this situation.

As I said, if it's such a big deal to you, next time you should just spend the extra money.

I was about to post what kcshooter did. 7 business days could very well be 12 days. And that's assuming your ffl didn't wait 2-3 days to send over his ffl.

You know, mail order houses used to say "allow 6-8 weeks for delivery".

I think we've all gotten more than a bit spoiled. You probably didn't even pay shipping on that gun.

I will spend the extra money from now on... I'll support that small store... It's not even in the " waiting to be shipped system " according to the email I got... Nice! :(

I paid $37 for shipping...
Really? Because NOW you're claiming they are being dishonest about that too

There are NO SHIPPING charges for firearms at BudsGunShop.com. The only exception being Long Guns shipped to Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico.

Are you in Alaska, Hawaii, or Puerto Rico? Did you buy insurance, or pay for expedited shipping?

If not, then SOMEBODY here is definitely being dishonest.

Buds ships free but that is uninsured. If you want insured shipping there is a fee. I think most people will opt for the insurance.

On my $618 1911 I ordered I believe the shipping was $8. If I remember correctly.

I think they charge insurance based on the total sale price. If his gun was over 3k I could see the shipping as $37

Yes, that was why I was asking if there were extenuating circumstances with the order. But unless he ordered a $3700 rifle, that doesn't seem to be congruent with their policies.
Shipping insurance is offered at a rate of $1 per $100 ordered item(s) value
BUT, he stated he paid $37 for shipping, not for shipping insurance. I'm just looking for the clarification as to the discrepancies in the policies of Bud's and the OP's statements.

Especially since he is claiming a reputable dealer to dishonest.

As I said, I take dishonesty seriously, and would really like to find out who the dishonest party in the situation we have here is.

Also, according to his original post, made on a Thursday, it had been 7 days. So they have until this coming Monday to ship it and be true to their shipping policies, if my calculations are accurate.

I usually don't mind the wait. If I'm in a hurry, I'll pay a few bucks extra and buy it locally. If I order from Bud's, I expect a two week to three week time frame. It is what it is. Jetguns and other small retailers just work faster.

he could have been dinged with $37 charge for using a credit/debt card.

a lot of people don't realize that they advertize the cash/ electronic check price. they get nailed with 3% charge for debt/credit card and mistook it for a shipping charge

Nope, that would OPTIONAL insurance that he asked and paid for.

True, as I stated in my first post I am a big fan of buds. My 1st transaction went very smoothly and I saved over 30%. Heck I even have a kahr cw45 on layaway with them currently.

I am just a little less quick to call the OP a dishonest person, since I do not know him. I am wondering if maybe we should not just point out where he was mistaken and show him our examples of positive experiences with buds so he might give them another chance.

I personally would say that I paid $8 shipping with Buds. You are correct that I actually paid for insurance, but I think a lot of people would just call it shipping and they are not trying to be dishonest

You guys are funny.... You are making me, the buyer try to feel bad for paying up front .. You bet I definitely paid the insurance. But let me ask you this..... Do you not think Bud's figures in shipping? There's no such thing as free... Somebody pays for it. I bought a gun from a reputable seller years ago and it was never ever found... Guess who ate that cost? Me... I insure everything of this type of value. I guess I have higher standards than most.... Painted in a corner? Uhhh... I paid up front , how am I to blame for their slow shipping... One of you couldn't take a comment above for what it's worth and now scraping for every dig you can get.... Nice... Hhah that's funny.

For those who say they " try to ship within 7 days"... That's not the way I read it.

I think some of you all are more upset than I am... I'm not mad, I'm not pissed... I'm bummed that twice now it's taken days almost weeks longer to get an order.... If they said " ships in 10 days, I'd hold them to that too..." I don't want this to turn into a battle... I merely stated that as a multiple time buyer of them, be leary of their advertised shipping times.. They have good communication, prices, knowledgeable staff, etc... Just don't expect them to be on time... Enough said... I am done posting on this...

I got my S&W M&P stripped lower on lay-away from Bud's before they changed their rules to firearms over $200. Showed up at my LGS, paid my transfer and my build is going nicely.

Their lay-away is what has me looking at their online inventory every so often. Since my credit rating sucks, lay-away is about the only way I can get stuff. Someday I'll be able to actually save up cash and just buy what I want when I see it, but that day is a bit further off.
