I just tried to fill out a return authorization form twice and it wouldn't take it either time so i contacted them directly. we will see if i get a response or not i'm not holding my breath.:scrutiny:

Took me a couple or three tries.

Look for tiny RED print above the field it wants you to correct, or fill out completely.

Ya I did that once I had missed something but this was different. It said it was sent and then it popped up (roughly) sorry unable to be sent contact site administrator if problem continues.

Well amazingly they just sent me an email and they approved it!!! This sight was made in 1999! I couldn't find a msrp for is so I just said 500 I'm pretty sure that it was around 600 though but I don't care that's way more than I figured I'd get. Back in August they wouldn't do a thing for me i actually tried to pay them to fix it, glad I found this.

I am torn. I have a newer 512 and one that is six years old. Not a single issue so far with either.
I am in love with the sights......if I could find something comparable I would send them back. I just hate looking through a tube for CQB.

What did it for me is twice now in the past 6 months I've pulled my gun out of the safe and the 512 atop it had dead batteries. Good quality lithiums too. Can't trust it to be working if I need it. Got approval for a refund and sent it back in. It arrived back at eotech on the 14th.

W L Johnson, what do you intend to replace it with? I had almost saved enough to buy, had decided on an Eotech, love the reticle set up, don't know what to do know, Holosun?

As far as I can tell, the EOTech news is on every gun forum I visit and on many gun blogs, too.

True, but forum members are a very small fraction of the gun owning public.

$360 Aimpoint PRO

At lapolicegear.com ... I'm not impressed with what I'm hearing with eotech and the level of complicity and deception at L3. If they are going to buyback- so be it. Many people can probably make money on the deal switch to an aimpoint on sale

I was looking at those today and had one big question - how big is the dot?

Also.....can you turn the motion sensing feature off? Seems like keeping it in a vehicle would be impossible with that feature.

I may send in one of my 512s and try out that Mepro sight.
1.8 MOA
Yes you can turn off the auto-on. The sight as well as the auto-on is off in setting 0

The sight has 5 settings.
0 - Off
1 - Bright
2 - Med
3 - Low
4 - Night vision

The settings on the sight are a good example of the KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid) method. Who needs 20 something brightness settings on a red dot?
Auto off is 30 minutes from the time of last movement of the sight. Auto on is with any movement of the sight. Just placing my hand on the gun is usually enough for the auto on to turn on the sight. Battery life is suppose to be 15,000 hrs continuously on with a single AA. With the auto on/off the battery will probably outlast me.

Edit: Forgot to add. Height of the sight provides a lower 1/3 co-witness on an AR and an absolute co-witness (with the build in backup iron sights) on a Tavor

Magnifiers are included if you bought as a set. For instance, if you bought a 512.G23 combo set, you have to return both the HWS and MPO to receive the full refund. I am sure EoTech knows which serial number HWSs are linked to which MPOs. after filling out the online refund form, you will get an email a few days later that specifically states that you have to return both parts of the combo set. If you bought an MPO separately, I do not believe you can return it as the issue was with the HWSs.

Well I pulled my box out to return it and the darn thing is 9yrs old. So Ive changed my mind. I think I got my moneys worth out of it, and it still works good.

So I am keeping it till it dies, maybe by then there will be other options that I like. definitely not the popular choice. :)

Had one of my Colt 6920s out this weekend (in the snow and sleet); my ten-year-old 512 (which had sat in a closet on the M-4 since last June, with batteries in) was still zeroed to POA and the reticle was still bright and crisp.

Earlier poster noted:
I know a couple of former SEALs who still swear by the EOTech.
I happened to be shooting with a buddy (just retired from our EOD community) who didn't even know about the EOTech issues and said that the EOT HWS was still in use with units on his last deployment.

If it ain't broke, it don't need fixin' (or replacing) ... So I'm gonna stick with my EOTechs and just pay out of pocket for my next optic.
