Put here in legal as this represents the top "lawyer of the land", who has been adversatial to the RKBA since he was a pup. Apparently he's become such a liability politically that he's history.

Contemplating how much the ill advised Fast and Furious debate spurred this.

Again, in the world of internet social media, spinning things in the press isn't working out like it did before. Forums like THR provide a place to keep things in the public eye for longer than one news cycle. Bottom-Up democracy in action. It worked in NJ for the unfortunate woman caught with her pistol, and it worked here too.

In any event, I doubt that many of us will miss his legal advice to the nation.

I don't recall an Attorney General who had their name in the headlines as much as Holder.

I'd say this was great news, but the possibility that someone just as or even more adversarial to RBKA will take the reigns of the Justice Department and the BATFE is pretty high.

I read the CNN blurb, but there was no reason given. I hope he won't be using his free time to study-up for a Supreme Court confirmation!

He says he will still be AG until a replacement is found.
It's not unheard of for a retiring office holder to accelerate their agenda.

I thought this was a cruel joke until I verified it on multiple news sites.

Nothing is done by Obama without political calculus.

He will leave after January if the Dems retain control of the Senate.

He will leave before January if the Dems lose control of the Senate.

Good riddance.

Ironically, just like it took the publicized killing of reporters for them to understand how dangerous ISIS really is, it took an unwarranted investigation against a news reporter for the Democrats in Congress to realize how dangerous Attorney General Holder really is.

Sadly the Fast and Furious debacle wasn't enough because it fit into their hypocritical ends justifies the means anti-2A strategy. It wasn't until this elitist turned on 'them' would they call for his resignation.

The word from within the insider track that whispers to me from the RNC is that he's afraid he will hauled up in front of a newly Republican controlled Senate, found in contempt, and then hauled off by the Bailiff into the capital jail until he testifies to everying he's asked. It's a real world possibility.

Noting that they can do that anyway, no matter if he's resigned or not.

I don't put a lot of stock in that theory Willie.

I'd place odds that Holder will probably depart somewhere between the election and when the new Senators take their seat (on the chance the Dems lose the Senate, the Admin would have a tougher time getting one of their inside favorites into the positions).

So, I'll also place odds that the probable replacement is Preet Bharara, a former staff member to Sen. Chuck Schumer. That should say enough about Bharara right there ... he would not be much of an improvement over Holder. I don't think anyone like Bharara would survive confirmation in a Republican controlled Senate.

I'm not gonna lie, I'll be missing that sweet 'stash and salt and pepper hair...

BUT THAT'S ALL I'LL MISS!

A little cold water here is in order.... Our current AG hasn't done one thing he wasn't supposed to do -as far as our President is concerned, unless I'm very much mistaken. I'm certain whoever succeeds him, if appointed by the guy in office now, will follow a similar agenda.... Last but not least, everything in this current administration is political so I'm sure they've planned, in advance, to take the best advantage possible as far as timing goes....

Since I was once the target of a civil rights investigation back when I was a young cop (all those years ago...) I pay some attention to how this stuff goes. Wish I were optimistic about the outcome - but change in our Justice Department's policies will only come through election I'm afraid....
