Oh good, some idiot (from Vanderbuilt) is on CNN saying that school aged "children" have too much access to guns. I guess college students are considered to be children. :banghead:

I guess college students are considered to be children.

According to the anti-gun crowd we are all children in that we cannot be trusted with certain tools.

The only answer is allowing CHL holders to carry everywhere because these things tend to happen at the "safest" places (read: disarmed). The police aren't going to be there in time to protect you. The school administrators who make rules to disarm you sure as hell aren't going to protect you. You are on your own. Plan accordingly.

I don't think that is his myspace. The news said that he was about 6' tall and that myspace says 5'8. There's no rule that you have to write the truth on the internet though...

I called my old college roommate about the shooting.
We both got our CHL in college.
He always gave me a hard time about carrying a handgun on campus.

I always said "concealed is concealed" and "carried by 6 or judged by 12"

I went back to visit last year and I was still packing.

If that is true, that would deflate the anti's balloon.

Since when do they let facts get in the way? As far a they're concerned, in VA kids can buy full-auto Uzis and AKs along with gum and soda at the corner drugstore.

I've decided I'm not going to any college that doesn't allow me to carry on campus

Guess that you're not going to college then.

I like the comparison " be expelled by one, than be carried by six"

Rather than congratulate ourselves with annonimity, perhaps we would be better served by writing our local papers/reps/ etc.

Here is mine: feel free to plagiarize! :)

Editor,
In light of the horrific tragedy at the University of Virginia’s campus I felt compelled to express my condolences to the families of the victims and my outrage toward the University’s policies.

How is it that one gunman can execute over (32 as I am writing) people with impunity?

Why was he capable of going room to room, ‘lining up’ victims and then murdering them?

Why was he not stopped sooner?

It seems that the General Assembly of Virginia, in their wisdom, denied students from possessing weapons on campus. The University’s vice president opined “Can you imagine if we let students go around armed?”

Tragically, today we know what can happen when we don’t.

If one student or teacher was armed, or even the presence of arms was suspected, I daresay the body count would have been significantly reduced.

But instead, the Virginia General Assembly guaranteed that the gunman would be facing unarmed victims.

Georgia’s State Government fumbled that same ball a few weeks back, to the cheers of the Morning News.

I surely wish that just one of those victims had broken “the law” and had “brought his gun to work”.

But then again, I suppose that it is morally superior to be carried by six.

Come on guys, his Myspace page? That is almost as ridiculous as the picture of the guy on one of the Twin Towers with a plane in the background.

Talking Heads

Regarding the stupidity of so called "FireArms Experts". these guys are part of the entire movement. They are SUPPOSED to be spouting idiocy. they aren talking to you, they are talking to the sheep and idiots who want to ban firearms. They foment rumors, and perpetuate myths. On purpose.
They aren't as stupid as they sound, they are talking to idiots.
I don't think I need a tin foil hat, when I state that when legislation isn't moving the way "THEY" want it, they trot out a sacrificial lamb, like this DA shooter, and throw some fuel on the fire.

@Tim James

Actually, We The IntarWeb were able to find pictures of the Montreal campus shooter as well as the firearm he used within hours of the shootings.

Don't underestimate the Internet.

I just sent this into CNN's situation room cafferty file. He asked a question about more gun laws.

I wrote:
I sure do hope gun laws change. I hope that students and faculty members will be allowed to carry concealed handguns into the classroom in the future. Perhaps this incident could have had a drastically different ending had an individual in one of the classrooms had been legally carrying a firearm. Banning guns or restricting the type of guns that can be owned only hurts innocent, law abiding citizens. Criminals will still get what they want. Banning guns will not make all guns magically disappear and will not magically turn criminals into saints.

wow........unbeleivable....hope all the friends and families are doing well... if thats really the moron that did that... id beleive it.. he seems like those kids tha t dont have many friends.. now im scared.... i have a 25 year old male in my class... he is bipolar...has anxiety... cant drive a car cause he cant...due to his condition...he picks and picks at me to the point where i want to break his jaw but i keep my mouth shut just because he cant control it.... i told him to stop talking to me... i dont have a ccw.... i just think i should get one.. and start carrying in class.... seriously no joke...

jlbraun, maybe you guys have gotten better at this in the last 5 and a half years, but I have a feeling the Internet sleuths only remember their successes. :)

Sent this to Cafferty

Pass all the laws you want. Criminals by definition don't obey them no matter how many you pass. And psychos do the same. This incident is a great example of disarmament not working. 'Gun Free Zones' merely create 'Victim Disarmament Zones' and that's why all the worst shootings occur in them. Everytime a bunch of defenseless people are shot people want to pass laws to make even more people defenseless. It's very difficult to shoot a large number of people when they are shooting back.

There is a cell phone cam video on CNN. Hard to tell what is firing, but it could very well be a pistol, but at the end of the video there is a much louder shot, maybe a 12ga. I wonder if that was the perp or if it was a shot fired by police.

but at the end of the video there is a much louder shot
I thought maybe it was a flash-bang. Maybe someone who has heard them more than my once could listen and give an opinion.

CNN says there were 27 shots on that video clip.

Thinking about that bang, I wonder if it was a shotgun being used by police to get into the building if the doors were indeed locked and chained shut.
