...avoid pointless confrontation when you are carrying. I've had to do it and it sucks, but that's the choice when we take on the huge responsibility of carrying.

Might even be a good idea to let that habit spill out into those times when you aren't carrying, too. Hate to get stabbed, shot, or beaten to death when unarmed nearly as much as I'd hate to have that happen if I was armed.
 
MtnCreek, there is a good lesson in strategy and tactics here. It might just not have been exactly what you intended. Thank you for starting the thread.

If the info in the original story is correct, am I the only one who thinks a 20 (EMT) and 30 minute (LEO) response times a bit long? Atlanta is a metro area, just how far away could they be? Those are about what I would expect in a rural area.

That sounds about right to me. Atlanta has never been known for quick response times & they have made cuts in the police department & fire department the past few years.

Atlanta city government is the epitome of incompetence & has been for a long time.
