Going to SHOT Show this year

You do??? Small world! Every rifle with a bipod should be a tripod! No wobble in any axis! Anyway, Kasey from Accu-Shot kindly invited me to share a bit of his space. Is that great or what?

Our booth number for S.W.A.T. MAg is 1826. Stop by and see the awesome sweepstakes rifle from D&L Sports. I just got it in today and it is very sexy...

Travis, my tripod. ;)

I bought it direct from their web site when they first announced the product. Really friendly folks and happy to answer email. No real surprise they invited you to share the space, just business as usual for a quality organization. Recommended.

Larry:

The concept is so simple and intuitive that it's hard to believe that the accu-shot's only been out a couple of years. Anyway, it was a very pleasant surprise to see your own rifle so equipped! Now I can hardly wait for the show; I feel like a kid waiting for a second Christmas this year!

My book is starting to get widely noticed. Now I'm getting folks emailing me to tell me they've bought it at some regional gun shows, so those wholesale orders are starting to trickle down. The author of the first and most famous RKBA novel just ordered a couple after finding the EFAD website and reading the 20 chapters posted there. Appearing at the SHOT Show might be a quantum leap. The book is now on the edge of general awareness by the shooting public, this SHOW might give it a big push.

Hey Matt, you might draw quite a bit of attention sitting under a sign that reads "VPC's Poster Boy in the fight to ban "bullet hoses". Hook 'em w/ the sign and reel 'em in w/ the book.

Good luck at the show!

Devin

Edited to add: How are you progressing on "Domestic Enemies"?

Oh, how I wish I could go...

Well, will somebody post an adventure report and pictures?

Have fun, guys. ;)

This may sound stupid but is there a dress code? I know there is nothing in writing but with all the other trade shows I've been to, guests normally tend to dress on the nice side with collared shirts and slacks. I'm wondering if this one will be any different or are jeans and t-shirts okay?

Exhibitors are generally in uniform or business casual. Some are in suits. This is the gun industry. I am sure that some gun dealers do not own a tie. Jeans are fine. I try to wear good jeans, maybe black, and a tucked in shirt with a collar.

Thefumegator, I'll post lots of pictures, but won't be able to do it "live"; it will take a couple days to compile. If there's something in particular you'd like to see, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Have not missed many, and I'll be there again.
For those first timers, you'll be amazed at the amount of gun stuff in the LVCC. I'd recommend making a list and taking a look at whatever your "must-sees" are and get them out of the way. One good way is to get a copy of the official directory, which has a floor plan and booth numbers of all exhibitors, sit and have a cup of whatever and plan your day. If you don't have some kind of plan, you can spend the entire show just wandering the endless rows of neat stuff.

If you're active in the industry at all, make sure you keep the directory. It has the phone numbers, addresses and web info for all the exhibitors. It will serve you well as a resource in the future year.

As Rob said, come by and see us at booth 1826.

Sydwaiz,

This is an industry trade show, not the SOF Convention or a gun show at the local armory. Dress to the level that you want to be treated by the professionals in the booths.

That's actually what I had in mind. :D
I don't have anything in particular in mind, it's just that I've never been to a SHOT show yet, so it's kind of black magic to me.

Thanks,
Wes

Thanks, that's what I thought. Heck, I was just at a trade show in Anaheim, CA today for my business.

Hey, are we supposed to get badges in the mail or do we pick them up there? All the other trade shows I've attented send you a badge in the mail when you preregister.

Wish I could go to Shot Show, of all the trade shows and expos this is the only one I can't get in to. Hope you guys have fun and take lots of pictures. Hey if anyone wants to trade pictures of CES 2004 for Shot Show 2004 pics when it comes, shout me a holla dawg.:D

There's also the Adult Expo which starts today here in Vegas - it's the big show for the porn industry! There's, um, ALOT to look at! :D The big difference between it and the SHOT Show for me is my wife will only let me go to the SHOT Show!

I'll be attending for the first time this year, and convinced (by buying the airline ticket) my dad to come along. We'll arrive (separately, as he is coming from Wisconsin, and I from California) at about 1PM on the first day, and will leave about half way through the third day. I'll have my camera in hand...

...MAYBE IT'S JUST ME...

....But although the 2004 SHOT Show info sheet on its website says nothing about not carrying with your valid NV (resident or non-resident) CCW, what is within the rules?

I hold a valid NV CCW and although the LVCC is "posted" it IS after all the Shooting, Hunting & Outdoor Trade show and not some silly doll show. Cashman Center is also owned by the Convention Center authority and is "posted" but at every single Cashman Center Gun Show, there is a table at the entrance where you can show your weapon 'clear' and they will tag it and you can carry it with you at the show.

This is my first SHOT show and I want to enjoy the experience. However, it seems REALLY STRANGE not to carry my constant companion at a shooting sports event.

...So what do you more experienced hands have to say ???

Yeah, go 'head! Just clear it when they ask ya! Course you'll get in!!
But just in case ya get hassled, detained, etc. don't blame me!!

Why don't ya just CALL THEM and ask!! THEM!!!!!
Anybody here can say what they want; just cause it's Vegas doesn't mean they'll follow the odds!!!
I LIVE here and won't even try to get in that way!!!!
Alright, I'm ready. FLAME AWAY!!!!!!

...DO I UNDERSTAND YOU CORRECTLY?

...So Citizen you think it's OKAY and NORMAL in a Shall-Issue State to ban legally armed attendees at FIREARM EVENTS?? Just doesn't seem to jive with either common sense or their normal practice at Cashman Field gun shows.

Moreover, if firearms are banned at the SHOT show, won't that make life a bit difficult for the Exhibitors to bring in their FIREARMS?

I will call and ask, but it was a serious question seeking friendly help and advice from my like-minded brethren in THR and really didn't call for sarcasm.
