Going to SHOT Show this year

I preferred when they had the show on Mon-Thur, it prevented gawkers from coming to the show.

Now I see where you are coming from and I agree in a way. But there are probably a couple of reasons they do it on the weekends. One, I'm sure the city itself and also the hotels have asay in the matter as we all know that is when they make most of their money. Two, I think alot of the "industry" partners are very small operations and the best time for them would be on weekends when people can leave their business behind for a little while.

Since this is my first time, I'm also wondering if this is the only trade show of it's type. With the other trade shows I attend, there are normally atleast two per year per trade on different sides of the country so all businesses have the opportunity to attend and take their equipment without having to lug it 3000 miles.

I am no hotel expert, but it would seem to me that they will already be booked solid for the weekend anyway (They are pretty full every weekend). They would probably make more money by having a convention during the week to book the rooms then also.

There isn't another 'SHOT Show' only the one. Something close, but not as big, is the NRA show. There is a 'SHOT Show' for Europe held in Germany every year. It is in the summer, not as big, but features primarily European firearms, some of which are not available here. Would it be worth going to and adding what I find there to www.shotshowreports.com?

Most vendors don't care but you may want to ask first. This IS the place where most companies release new products and most like the attention.

I think you're right but the SHOTshow letter/badge says cameras aren't allowed?

- Please be aware that SHOT SHOW attendees may not take personal firearms on to the exhibit floor for purposes of appraisal, sale, repair or any other reason.
- SHOT SHOW is for trade only. No one under the age of 16 admitted, including infants.

Also, they said we "may not" take personal firearms... From what I understand, we can carry concealed legally with a Nevada permit?

Get Together!!!!

Ok, I'm sure a lot of us want a get together. When and where? Fri or Sat night makes the most sense. We could do like last time and have one friendly THR member who has a table be the "host" and we will all check in with him for up-to-date info. He can dictate a time and place for our dinner, if he wishes. If we have a lot of folks to RSVP here, we could reserve a room at a local restaurant.

Jeff OTMG, I'll be at Circus Circus too. Not only is it damn inexpensive but it's a decent casual walk after a long day at the show. I was at the recent CES and bunked in at the Mirage. Man, getting back to the hotel was a bitch. Our car was parked too far and the buses were always full. I'd prefer the Marriott except that it goes fast.

Anyway, I was suggesting on the other thread that if you guys are up for something different (well, a tad bit anyway), we could meet for dinner in Chinatown Vegas. That place has boomed so much in such a short span. I found some great seafood joints last month.

FYI, .......tried P.F.Chang's at Aladdin.....not impressed. The Italian restaurant at The Mirage was disappointing but the bistro Mon Ami Gabi at Paris was decent. We tracked down the new location for Rosewood Grill and the seafood was fab.

I'm looking forward to meeting the SWAT gang
