Wlkjr you are too nice! Thanks!
How have your loads been working out?
I'm satisfied with them. A little less with my shooting. The gun and ammo are much better than I am. Blew it in my pocket Glock in GSSF. If the score holds up, I did manage to win a pistol for amateur in subcompact division though.

....Altogether, I am very satisfied with the Glock 42 and loading for it. Many thanks to ArtOfGolf for starting this series. .........What's next?

Good to see some action in this thread. What's next...how about some new bullets from Berry's :D I mentioned these earlier in a PM to wlkjr.

These are just what the Doctor ordered (1K of seconds)
Shot a laddered work-up @ the range today ~ I likum' FP's  (especially with a HB)

Art those HBFPs look great. I wonder how they'll differ from the RNs I tried earlier? And where did you find them?

MstrEddy, they have the exact same base as the HBRN. I found them while fishing-around on the Berry's website for deals.
They offer bullet seconds at a discounted price ~ I find the seconds suitable for range practice.

Artofgolf,
Be glad you picked up those Berry's 100gr HBFP when you did!:D

I sent a question to sales @ Berry's and this was their response:

"I am sorry. We no longer have any of those bullet.
We are not planning on making them again as the feedback determined they were just a little too short.
I did not use them so I don’t have firsthand information on that, only what I have been told.
There may be something a little different tried in the future but I do not know when that may occur.
Thank you,
Michael Fundaro

You are ONE LUCKY Warf Rat shooter MR. Artofgolf!!!!:what:
jell-dog

Those Berry's HBRN's are fantastic out of Wharfy
That's why I was excited about the FP's with the same base configuration.
Sad to hear that they are not going to be available going forward :banghead:

AoG,
Glad to see you've started hitting that red circle in the middle now:neener:
Wisenheimer :p

... Seriously though, that's some pretty good shootin there.
Thanks, Potatohead!

Yes, we do! :D

Last Thursday, jell-dog asked the following: BTW do you have a Berry's 100gr HBRN to compare to one of your Berry's 100gr HBFP?

Fortunately, I do! View attachment 207149 (click on image to expand)

Berry's HBFP: length 0.451"
Berry's HBRN: length 0.467"
Xtreme RNFP: length 0.431"

This is why I think the 'PROTOTYPE' Berry's 100g HBFP could be helpful for the reloaders having OAL work-up/function issues.
(PLUS, the work great in the Wharf-Rat)

SO, I continue to tilt-at-windmills by trying to convince Berry's to produce the HBFP's in 100g

Art,

Thank you for the additional feedback. I will pass it on again. Maybe we will have some luck with your request.

Artofgolf,
Last e-mail I received from Michael Fundaro:

The group they were intended for did not have the results they expected. That is why another idea is in the works.

I think the group they were intended for were 9mm reloaders, as the description for the Berry's HBFP is 9mm caliber use and WAS listed with Berry's 9mm bullet offerings, while the description for the Berry's HBRN is 380 caliber use, offered with Berry's 380 caliber bullet offerings, both have same diameter of .356".

I have found Berry's bullets to be high quality and accurate.

Please do not take this post as "Berry's Bashing", maybe if enough requests are sent this bullet or something similar will be offered again?

From your lips to other THR members' ears ;)

The only way for folks to induce Berry's to produce this gem is to try it themselves.
I'd be willing to send a handful to dedicated Wharf-Rat handloaders (and a few 380 Auto fans) so they can see the possibilities up close & personal :p
They would be able to badger Berry's to get on producing more! :uhoh: (.......maybe)

Artofgolf,
Once again, you show that the generosity of THR members has no bounds!!
Giving up some of the bullets that are no longer available!!
WOW....just WOW!!!:what:
I hope the serious WARF RAT reloaders take you up on your offer, and supply the rest of us with load data and photos using this bullet!!
Ya, I LOVE to look at targets with holes in them!!:D:p:D

Art, count me in. I like the flat nose bullets. I ordered the HBRN from Berry's, but I'm interested in the ones you tested. I'd ask you to send me a few, but I think your testing will do it justice. I'll take your word for it and contact them to request they consider it for us 380 users.

Art, count me in. ... I'd ask you to send me a few, but I ....

You've contributed quite a bit to the Wharf Rat conversation & I think you need to try a few.
PM your address & I'll send some your way ;) Our version of the PIF-FSG :) Wharfy~style

Berry's HBRN

CAUTION: The following post includes loading data beyond or not covered by currently published maximums for this cartridge.
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. Neither the writer, The High Road, nor the staff of THR assume any liability for any damage or injury resulting from use of this information.

The quest for a good powder & load recipe continued today in a 22 degree range session with the Wharf-Rat

I've always liked VihtaVuori powder and thought it was a good time to pair it with the Berry's HBRN plated bullet.
Knowing the G-42 likes 'em hot, I started @ 2.6g and progressed up to a 3.0g charge of N-310.
For this test, a 7-yard w/rest stance was used to mitigate the shivering :p brrrr

From 2004 Lapua load data, the 2.6g max. listing cycled the G-42 with no problems; moderate recoil with the mouse.

I continued with a 2.8g gradation and ended the ladder @ 3.0g :fire: SPICY

Yes indeedy, this one is a little peppy ~ but controllable, snappy recoil :D
I'm likin' the faster VV N-310 for Wharfy and would consider it a good choice for future G-42 load development.

Great shootin' AOG!.....JD
Thanks, jell-dog. I'm lookin' forward to your Missouri Bullet poly-coated work-up with Dudedog's contribution to the cause.
If you're needing any other bullets, I can donate a few for future testing; let me know ;)
Consider some N-310, if you see future tests could use a faster powder.

Xtreme Penetrator

Just saw them on the Lehigh website :D

Yeah ~ they reeled me in again....

The Xtreme Penetrator (XP) product line, for both handgun and rifles.
The progressive nose geometry allows for deep, straight penetration while creating a permanent wound cavity diameter exceeding that of most expanding bullets.
To top it off, the bullet is solid copper able to overcome barriers to penetration; environmentally friendly, target unfriendly, very unfriendly, downright obnoxiously unfriendly.

According to technical info provided by Lehigh, these pills are rated to 4,000 fps.
Imagine some little lasers with a +P charge (3N37 or Silhouette) through the 9mm Kel-Tec SUB2K. Interesting......
Even the new Hi-Point 380 carbine could accommodate these ......
