Help me pick a cartridge I don't want, to go in a gun I don't like.

Days of the open sighted bolt rifle seem to have passed. To bad that, even if I didn't use them I LIKE the way sights look.

This one .243... after I zeroed the open sights, I did scope it... Tasco 3-9x40 in Weaver QuadLocks with an extended front to get the eye relief right. The open sight's still there in case something goes bad with the scope. I do agree though about sights having an aesthetic appeal. I recall reading Jack O'Connor talking about how factory-mounted sights were getting cheaper and worse over the years, and this was in 1970. He mentioned how a rifle gets scoped, the barrel-mounted rear sight gets removed, being considered unnecessary, but the front sight gets left on and it's basically a hood ornament.

How about 375 Raptor. Seems potent.

Velocities are off the website linked above, so take it at face value:
  • Speer 235 grain @ 2400-2675 fps
  • Barnes 250 grain TTSX @ 2250-2450 fps
  • Sierra 250 grain Game King @ 2250 – 2550 fps
  • Nosler 260 grain Accubond @ 2250 fps – 2525 fps
  • Nosler 260 grain Solid @ 2200 – 2400 fps
  • Speer 270 grain BTSP @ 2200 – 2400 fps
That's on my list for a different build, tho it's a toss up between that, the .375 Socom, or the .458 Socom.

i would like a 35 socom lol. what broke on your little truck?
Blew one of the brake lines that runs over the fuel tank, so I had to pull the bed off.

MDWS makes something very similar called 358 yeti. I will be ordering one when they get them back in stock.
I considered a yeti AR, still kinda am actually lol.

that sucks, do some undercoating being you got the bed off.
It is lol, that's basically all that's holding it together these days.

Looks like boom boom was right. There's a basic Mcarbo spring in there. Trigger can still use some work, and shimming.
Another friend of mine wants the .308 parts so that will help fund the barrel, or srock. My buddy wants threading so we're looking at 450ish for the tube.
