I doubt that there is anything substantive that you can tell Tom. He was speaking figuratively.

That you for that information. I figured out he was speaking figuratively. Same as myself. And I think you already know this. And while I do carry a number of different firearms, I am very content with a revolver, small pistol etc. Some experts say this, some that and on and on and on. Really have been shooting a carrying long enough to just do what I think is best for myself and practical. To be honest, really do not give a hoot what anyone decides to carry. Hopefully I am a better shot than the bad guy.

Hmmm.

I never worry about that.

I hope that I can put a sufficient number of shots into him quickly enough to have a reasonable probabilistic chance of hitting something internal that will effect an immediate physical stop, before he shoots me or engages me with a contact weapon.

That will require a lot more than shooting skill on my part.

My God this gets old. What are you going to do, spend the whole day picking out every word on this? Maybe a better Idea would be to just get out and do some shooting.

I don't think that's true, for conventional motoring. One can refuel, if necessary, without being killed...
Aviation is another story. FAA regulations require aircraft to have a half hour fuel reserve. Pilots ignore the regulation at their peril.

What are you going to do,. pend the whole day picking out..?
I am trying to illustrate in an understandable way why it is that what many people who have spent their days at the square range consider to be "good shooting" may not suffice in a defensive encounter.

We have a weekly news paper for our county of residence which incudes in the content the County Sheriffs Department incident reports. and largest city with in the county Police Department incident reports. Incident's of shooting are an exceptionally rear occurance and that's over a twenty plus year period of reading those reports. The largest part of the county is rural, my residence is surrounded by woods and agricultural fields in proximity to a recreational area. Thus we have a influx of humanity to deal with.

My neighbors are self reliant types, thus most likely armed. I don't think they are to concerned about caliber and or gauge thus capacity, but there is a willingness to be combative if pressed to do so. They in essence, are like those individuals written about in the "The Armed Citizen" column in NRA publications. On the other hand with Bragg and Lejeune located in NC we may have certain percentage of residents trained and experienced.

Friend and his wife and baby were in a DC-8 that ran out of gas, crashed in the woods and made it. They were in the back. The front was killed.

Self defense ammo is a life saving commodity. Like reserve fuel in an aircraft, reserve ammo in your self defense weapon is important. It's up to each individual to determine how much is enough.

I'm late to the party and the poll is closed. 4 shots total. 3 missed. 1 ended the threat. Home invasion. I made a lot of mistakes that night. Shooting 1000's of rounds at paper targets did not prepare me. Now I take classes and train properly.

jjj...
