If we got more girls into the shooting sports at an early age we would have fewer "sarah brady's".
I'm going to teach Doc's "No mean's No!!" pose to my niece.
How nice to see a thread about families this close to Christmas! Quality posts with great pictures!
Congratulations to you all. My grandchildren are just a little too small for taking to the range but I look forward to it down the road.

Thought I would post these pics of Morgan too...doing some of her other-than-hunting hobbies, i.e. Ms. Pit-racer and Bath Mitzvah-attender. Note she is not in race-gear here...just tooling around the yard. Dad takes her shooting; Mom takes her to buy dresses. Guess it's fair to say she's a pretty rough-n-tumble gal who cleans up pretty well. Note the addition of her lovely purple cast from her latest pit race. Gotta love a gal like this:
My daughter (18) with my Buckmark URX and MatchDot. She shoots it well. She loves to go with me to the range. She calls it her father/daughter bonding ritual.
My wife of 33 years posing with one of my ARs. She got to enjoy shooting it so much she decided she should have one of her own. She now has her own, a Bushmaster AR15 with a full stock.
Too bad I've never brought a camera to one of our team's pistol matches. I'm sure pictures of Ohio State's pistol team (mostly women) putting 10 rounds in sub-dime-sized groups and shooting 550/600 would be very appropriate for this thread.
If she's nine or ten, just design the trip around her. Use .22 LR rifle/pistol combo. Teach the basics. Keep it sober. "You're growing up now. There are things you need to learn that you'll never get in school."
If she's older than this, the same approach applies, with the emphasis tailored to wherever she's at in life. "You're gonna have some cool stuff to tell your friends."
threads like this make me realize that I need to take more women shooting with me. the only problem with having girls come with me, though.. is that I seldom get much shooting done. i get too carried away trying to teach them that by the end of the day I've shot at most 100 rounds. i think i talk to damn much at the range when i bring visitors - I should just shut up and let them shoot barn door groups if they want to.
I'd say this thread is coming along very nicely. My wife is very impressed by the age range of the ladies. Thanks guys!!! It makes it even easier, thus, for me to continue to take MY little one shooting. Safety in numbers!!!
Nice HK, nice Doberman. That's a no go X 2. Is that the 9 or .40? (the handgun not the dog ) I'm still regretting my stupid youth a long time ago that caused me to miss a great deal on that pistol just because it was in 9mm. How short-sighted and caliber snobby I used to be. *sigh*
