Interesting CCW shooting incident...

Five shots, five misses; maybe a hammer would be a better carry option?

LEOs might be disturbed about five wild shots ricocheting around the neighborhood?

Mastiffs are not usually aggressive unless their territory is threatened, but I wasn't there, so I certainly can't say. But a 120 pound German shepherd and a what, 150 pound mastiff, I think I'd let the two of them sort it out their ownselves. I don't hire out as a dog bodyguard; I pay the food bills, the dog holds up his end of the deal.

Bishop.357...I doubt you have made anyone on here "uncomfortable" or "uneasy". We are all men. While we may disagree I'm sure all of us have done things that we are not going to discuss on a public forum. There are some situations which the laws of man cannot satisfy. But the laws of nature spell out a remedy! I understand! Just don't volunteer information needlessly. :)

Firing a weapon/forearm within city limits (most that I know of) when acting in self-defense is admissible is it not?

I think this will get tossed in court-

I have three dogs and that always worries me when i take them in walks becs most of the time i'm with my whole family, IMHO if the mastiff is not attacking any of my family just my dogs i will let go of my dogs and wait and see, but if the dog is attacking one of my kids, I will shoot him too..and hopefully i wont miss..

The only smart thing to say to the police if they want to question you is NOTHING, and any lawyer who knows his stuff will refuse to let you talk to the police at all, with or without him present. 90% of the time they've decided where they're going and are just trying to put the icing on the cake by getting you to admit something. There's a version of Miranda for cynics and defense lawyers that goes "anything you say will be misquoted and THEN used against you!"

Even if it's not misquoted, you can't tell the same story twice the exact same way, and lawyers focus on the details. Cross exam: "Back on 8-8-09 you told Officer X that the dog was about 15 feet off when you started shooting and you fired four shots. Now you say the dog was 20 feet off and you fired five shots. Which statement was correct? A little confused about what happened, aren't you?" and so on.

I will say that there may be cases where someone talked their way out of charges, and naturally those never crossed my desk. I see a vast majority of people talk themselves into more trouble by speaking to police.

My father was a judge for almost 40 years and he used to always say – “Sometimes right & wrong doesn’t have anything to do with it”.

i could not agree more.

im going to go out on a limb here and say that the choice of protection is not the point ppl.

strike one was really unavoidable in the moment at hand, and i would have done the same thing, took him home, and maybe throw in the mix that he is just freaked out by the other dog, the sounds of the fire.

everything after this i would have probably done a little different.

to me the fact that they want me to come to the station suggests that they are possibly ready to finish their report and go have dinner. i would find comfort in the fact that they would rather do it there than snoop around the site of the incedent.

honestly, whats to be afraid of as far as going to the station.

just go, act scared to death, act extremely sorry that the incedent happened. smile and say yes sir, no sir.

i honestly believe eliminating strike 2 gets this in your rearview.

i mean, if he went to the station whats the worst that could have happened? exactly what happened?

sometimes the best thing a person can do is to know his rights and insist that they be respected.

and sometimes the worst thing a person can do is to know his rights and insist that they be respected. (which i think may apply here)

Cass, I have a pitbull, I rescued her from idiots, and believe me I've seen dogs right. It's mostly "scary" more so than hurtful. The dogs get a little angry, go at it a bit, and then it's over. Like I said, in nature that's how they decide who is who. It's normal for them. We're the ones who have the problem with it.

These comments about dog fights not being serious are unbelievable. Two of my own dogs, a Doberman and a German Sheperd, got into a fight. They inflicted multiple puncture wounds on each other (and me) and would not have stopped if I had not thrown one of them over the backyard fence.

The results were hundreds of dollars in vet bills and over a thousand dollars for my visit to the emergency room.

So, don't try to tell me that a dog fight is not serious.

Without a lawyer? The police could potentially have actual incriminating statements, true or false. Now, they have little or nothing.

If you say nothing, you can say nothing incriminating. You can make self-incriminating statements without even knowing it.

This idea that you're going to be your own lawyer is as innately foolish as the idea that you're going to perform eye surgery on yourself.

My question here....is your state...do the charges brought against him have the chance of CHL being suspended or revoked?
