Jared Jewelry anti-gun

Well that's a darn shame. I was gonna buy the wife some jewelry, but now I'll just get her a nice pistol instead.

Several of the Jareds are posted here in North Carolina. The sign even says you're not allowed to have a firearm in the parking lot.

I refused to enter the store.

Needless to say, our business and several thousand dollars went elsewhere. It will be a cold day in hell before I spend a penny there.

Steve

Now remember, all this is USELESS unless you let the (a) store manager and (b) corporate management know about it.

Remember - it's about them posting a "we don't want your business sticker." That's ALL you need to think about. If you write in your note that "Besides, Brand XXX is a better value," then they figure they wouldn't have you as a customer anyway. STICK TO THE POINT.

This isn't about "how to buy shiny things" or "whether or not to buy shiny things." This is about a NATIONAL chain that is saying, up front, that they do not want people who can prove that they do not have criminal records as customers.

in Florida these signs mean nothing. I'd like to see if they posted it on their stores here.

Cheese,

Legally, they may not have much weight.

But effectively, Bogie is right. They are basically telling us: take a hike, we don't want your business.

I will be sending a response to Ms. Myers shortly advising her that I will be taking my future business elsewhere (which will include purchases that will be made within the next few months.)

I'll be faxing them a receipt later today.

I'll be dropping almost $ 600.00 today on a watch for my wife. When I get home, I'll fax a copy of it to Jared saying that I was unable to shop at their stores today because I received word that I as a 'permit holder' am not welcome in their stores.

My wife's b-day ;) Being able to stick-it to anti will really sweeten the purchase for me :)

are all of these stores stand alone stores, or do they share a parking lot with other stores in a shopping center? seems to me that if they share the parking lot, they dont have one ounce of legal ability to prohibit anything in that parking lot, unless the actual owner of the lot does.

The ones out here (NC) are stand-alone buildings, but share a common parking lot with other stores, like a shopping mall.

All these signs are nothing more then discrimination PERIOD

What if all these "no legal permit weapon" signs read..... No Blacks aloud! People would be all over it like flys on you know what. Its discrimination plan and simple and its a shame all we do is take our business elsewhere and not stand up a shout THIS IS BULL ^#*# :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Before you know it all business's that are owned by anti's will simply post a sign and we will no longer be able to carry legaly anywhere even though the State says we can.

You all do know they make up to three carat diamond in Florida that are Chemically and optically the same as the stuff dug out of the ground.
For 5 dollars a carat. Now the inventors are not stupid. They ain't stepping on De Beers toes and risking having accidents. They are busy getting rich selling perfect, flawless diamonds at better than De Beers prices.

Now if you hunt for it you can find the exceptional cover of the Wired article. But I'm going to not post that. It's NSFW. ;)

Obviously someone in Jared's corporate headquarters has the IQ of a fruit fly.

But it's ok by me. If there is one thing this country doesn't lack, it's jewelry stores. I'll just shop at a better store. Thanks for the info.

MrMeval, the DeBeers have successfully sold, to my mother at least, that natural diamonds are 'better' and 'more valueable'.

And she's such a logical person normally...

I'm tempted to do the same, but I don't normally buy jewelry.

They are owned by the British, it's unlikely they'll change their policy.

I noticed their store in Jacksonville, FL posted last year and in tracking down addresses to write learned that their parent company is Sterling Jewelers which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Signet Group plc, a British company, so it's no surprise they are anti-gun.

www.signetgroupplc.co.uk

Kay Jewelers is also a division of Sterling, though I've never seen one posted.

Customer Relations
My part is done; then again, maybe I'll have some more fun with them. My wedding anniversary is under two weeks away - their loss *shrug*

Hi, Julia

Thank you for your reply; I absolutely agree that Jared's - or anyone else for that matter - has the right to deny anyone access to their premises for whatever reason they see fit to impose.

That being said, it's counter-intuitive that I won't be permitted to shop in any of your stores any longer for the sole reason that I own a specific object, some of the legal requirements for which are that I have a (proven) clean criminal and psychological record. My second wedding anniversary is on the 24th of this month but I'll have to spoil my wife with some sparklies from somewhere else.

I believe that your company is severely misguided by specifically rejecting your (by definition) law-abiding customers, but good luck with your decision.

We don't have these stores where I live, but I'm betting from some of these posts that they have stores where the SO lives. I'm a HUGE jewelry buyer and I'm one of the few who got away with wearing mine in an Oleg Volk shoot :)

They won't get a dime of my business. At least the stores here in my area do not post such hogwash.

Well that's a darn shame. I was gonna buy the wife some jewelry, but now I'll just get her a nice pistol instead.

LOL, D*** the bad luck, huh buddy?:D

All they have to do is get some of those "gun free zone" posters, as shown on you tube. I saw the video, the really do work.

That way none of you gun-toting hooligans will be allowed around me while I'm buying my jewelry.

Gun Free Zone

(I'm gonna catch heck for this . . .)

So, if I get a T-shirt with that GUN FREE ZONE print on it, and I go shopping while CCW, is the offense "False Advertising" or "Hunting Over Bait?"

:D

On the same note, Taco Cabana based right here in SA has no gun signs as well. They don't meet 30.06 requrements though.

Same with the Taco Cabana's in Houston

Did these people learn nothing from the Virginia Tech Gun free keep our people safe zones :banghead:

"Discrimination" or not, it's their private property, and they have (in my opinion) the right to ban whomever they want from it. If that makes them money, then so be it. If it loses them money, then so be it. But it's a rare case when it's beneficial to turn away business.

Not that I buy jewelry anyway. My wife prefers guns and fast cars. :D I win!
