M855 ban in reg already

It looks like the exemption list was removed but since it doesn't meet the definition of ap, the list was meaningless anyway. That doesn't mean they haven't made up their mind.

I haven't read all the legal babble and haven't dug into the facts and details....but ill say this......nothing surprises me anymore. Not saying anyone did anything wrong as i really don't know. I am saying i wouldn't be surprised if they did though. Pretty sad that this is how i think of my govt nowadays...

That's what I'm thinking. US 30-06 M2AP was also no longer listed in the exemption list which means.... there is no exemption list.

If 150gr 30/30 Flat Point was listed as an exemption even though it doesn't fit the definition of AP, does removing it make it illegal armor piercing ammo? It's effectively the same thing that they've done w/ M855.

I'd be more concerned with the M2AP exemption removal since it does come up for sale occasionally AND it is armor piercing. Not that there's a (sane) non-single-shot handgun that chambers it.

It would seem that they do not have to change the law or pass new ones - they only have to "redefine the terms" and remove all "exemptions" (except for LEO and military and Secret Service and DHS). :scrutiny: Anybody else see a pattern here?

Hey ya'll, you know what's also on an exemption list at Obama's pleasure for "sporting purposes" reasons? All shotguns over 20ga. No, nothing surprises me anymore. Anyone else think the idea here is to empty the armor piercing ammo exemptions list? That sure sounds like something simple enough to be pitched between gun hating bureaucrats looking for "options."

Which makes the new ruling even more ridiculous; at least AR pistols are actually common.

makes you a smart man.
paranoia is becoming visionary.

Cause they're a bunch of compromising pansies.

REALLY?
While I don't agree with everything they do I've come to realize they ARE the voice that represents us with the most clout.

This is the agency who let straw purchased guns walk across the border, which went directly into the hands of Cartel shooters who killed a US enforcement agent with them.

Dead bodies usually provoke our political processes to make corrective actions - space shuttles or school shootings - but in this case, nothing. It seems that banning one type of ammo is generating more traction in Congress than the loss of our own by the hands of our own.

Something is truly broken in this administration when the Fast and Furious supervisors are shielded and no scapegoats are ever outed. Heads would have rolled with a more conservative Administration, yet, about all we get is Eric Holder to retire with no known connection while certain Departments continue to stonewall every investigative step.

Let's take a different perspective - should we think that these Departments and their employees are 100% dyed in the wool loyalists to this Administration, willing to lay down their careers to protect the political shenanigans they see happening under their nose?

Maybe this "oversight" by the ATF publishing a "ban" before it even existed is less an error as someone throwing a wrench in the works as best they can. And I'll bet dollars to donuts there have been some high stress conversations as to why the wrong version would be sent to the publishers when it's supposed to be proof read and cross checked.

Maybe one too many digital copies in circulation in the upper staff? We see a lot of laws written and passed by Congress the same way, hey, you have to vote for the law to see what's in it?

The Chinese curse of living in interesting times does seem to have it's place.

Saw a news clip from yesterday. White House spokesman Josh Earnest states: This is a gun ban! Admits it's about banning the AR15! In a statement he says clearly that this is about getting rid of the AR15. Ban the ammo if you can't ban the gun, is clearly the plan at the W.H.!

You have had company for well over 200 years. The Founding Fathers felt the same, which is why the Constitution was constructed the way it was. But, I digress.

I remind myself that M855 is the topic at hand.

Do you have a clip of this video? I've heard a at least one statement from the WH regarding this ammo, but in that one, there was nothing stating this was about banning the AR-15 or directed at that particular firearm even.... I have a hard time beleiving an open, direct statement about this ammo ban being part of a broad effort at banning the AR15 would go largely unnoticed by the shooting public. Is that what was actually SAID, or what you INFERRED from the statement given? I've searched the web high and low, and simply cannot find the clipyou're referring to. The only clip I have found where Earnest talks about M855, he states its "common sense" and whatnot, but never once makes the statement you have attributed to him. Please prove otherwise, as I'd love to see it.

It was early Sunday morning when I saw it. As I was going to bed, I didn't mark it. I will go see if I can track it down for everyone to see. I was surprised that no one was discussing it! He clearly said this was about banning the AR15! I ran it back twice, just to be sure that's what he said! I have seen a few articles written, but they seem to be edited . But I will try to find the video clip for it.

I have been looking for the video clip, but it is not on the Google news feed this morning. I did track down some articles but they only say that he said something about keeping the guns out of the wrong hands. More was said than that! I don't have Wi-Fi at the moment. When I do, I will search again for it. I am on a cell & am not sure how to attach video or pic.s . But I will post IP address. I will post it when I have it.
