Due to the illegality of banning it, I don't think it will come to fruition.

Even if it does, it's not like there's anything great about 855. So I didn't bother looking for any.
 
my guess is that it is the same that payed twice the cost of an ar platform rifle.

Look what they did a few years ago after Sandy Hook. They bought every AR and mag in stock and then paid 100% premium for every one they could find in the secondary market. 5.56 was going for about a dollar a round.

I think we are on our way back to those days.

$.62/rd delivered ain't bad. Retail OTC price on those boxes comes to $75/ea at Wal-Mart, so that's a $11.25 panic premium per box.

I don't know of criminal uses, but I have read reports of lab type testing where M855 penetrates armor that stops other 5.56mm bullets.

I don't think I'll ever buy any more M855. The accuracy is just too poor for my preferences, and I have no conceivable need to penetrate armor.
 
The Swedish stuff is Berdan primed, BTW.

I don't consider myself a "flipper" cuz I ain't buying, just selling. If someone wants to pay me a dollar per round they can have it...

Yeah, you're probably right...after all, .22LR is back to its cheap and-plentiful status...right?

I don't own a single round of anything but 55gr, and while I'd like to try different weight 5.56 ammo, that ship has probably sailed for the forseeable future.
I am getting set up to handload 5.56, but they will apparently be 55gr., as that is about all that is available at a reasonable price.

For a time, yeah, you could buy sporting versions. But to return them to their "full glory", you had to replace half the parts in accordance with 922R.

And, of course, their importation is presently banned completely.

I was at the LGS today looking at slide greases when I overheard a pro-tip from the cashier, whispered to the customers huddled at the counter.
He said that they were coming after 7.62 next.
No further details were given.
As I left, I noticed a visibly shaken customer pile box upon box of 123gr 7.62x39 TulAmmo on his purchases.
Keep this on the Q-T.

The price is what it got bid up to, so that's just the work of market forces acting on individual supplies.
The sensational marketing, however, does rub off extremely badly.

All over GB there are unscrupulous sellers calling it AP - that is absolutely low-road.

What's kept M855 prices from rising into the sky this past week has been the ability of retailers to restock. They've been very resilient. SGAmmo is back in stock now with reasonably priced PMC X-Tac M855 at 47cpr + delivery and the premium GGG NATO rounds for a (sadly) now marked-up price of $.55+ delivery.

So the supply chain has held out, so far. I don't know when it ends, how far it goes. I don't have the insights that a retailer or distributor would have. I wish there was a way of knowing what's due to hit our shores, up the supply chain, before the BATFE drops the hammer.

I've been buying other 62 grain stuff at non-inflated prices. As long as I can still get ZQI 62 grain at or around $10 for 30 rounds, I'm not panic buying. I'm still going to continue flooding ATF and Federal .gov reps with e-mails.
 
The Fed is also going to regulate the internet, just like the Chicoms. Wake up folks, theres more coming . STock up if you can....

They did NOT call it "Steel Core Penetrator" in the past.
Even Midway has sunk to neckbeard lows.
At least they didn't call it "Pre-BAN Bunker Busting Ammo" but they're close.
 
It would be nice to have some of that swedish stuff to try. the swedish do tend to make nice ammo for themselves.

Its tempting to join the craze and buy a box for the heck of it. but i dont NEED it. The only version i can get is ae black or green box, and my experiences with that stuff in different versions leaves me distasteful of the idea.
