I'm looking to build my own long distance precision 300 PRC. What chassis from Masterpiece Arms is the best for precision shooting? The Matrix looks pretty solid.

The Matrix is a great chassis, you can't go wrong with it. Another great choice would be a Foundation.

If I was only shooting off of a bench or prone and not on the clock, I'd shoot a Foundation between those two.

What kind of long distance, precision shooting are you planning to do with this rifle? The type of shooting you’ll do will dictate what kind of stock or chassis will best serve you - and frankly, dictate whether a 300 PRC makes sense either.

In general, anything LR/P that we’d do with a 300PRC would be done from prone or from a bench, and in that world, chassis’ don’t tend to compete with stocks. The 300 has a really small niche in the LR/P word as only game where 300 PRC has any play at all (other than big game hunting) is King of 1 Mile type events - anything shorter than a mile is done better by other cartridges like 300 wsm, 284 Shehane, or 6 BR/Dasher, and anything longer is better done by bigger cartridges.

Equally, the MPA chassis isn’t really popular among these competitors. Highly popular among PRS shooters, which only shoot to 1000-1200 yards, but not with 300 PRC’s. I know of ONE dude among a relatively small world of ELR shooters which shoots a 300 Norma in an MPA chassis for Light category (30 or 33 cal, under 26lbs) - but the most common of the FEW chassis’ we see are Fusion or Accurate Rifle Solutions from Terry Dines or Joe Updike, respectively, the Mcree from Scott, and some Cadex rifles. The overwhelming majority of those ELR rifles are built on Manners or McMillan stocks.

Gunshops have been filled with slightly-used 30 cal magnums for decades already… rifles that dudes bought for long range shooting, then realized they cost too much to feed, kick too hard, and don’t actually perform better than something smaller, less powerful, and less expensive… some of us DO have a need for a rifle to fill that niche of ~1 mile, nothing more, nothing less shooting, but most don’t.
