Most accurate handgun?

All else being equal, any handgun with a fixed barrel is going to be inherently more accurate. On the same note, an autoloader with a fixed barrel should be more accurate than a revolver, since revolvers almost invariably deform the bullet to some extent as it enters the forcing cone. These can be fine points with quality guns, but still factor in. In my personal experience, the most accurate centerfire handgun I've ever shot (excluding single shots) is the Desert Eagle; fixed, poly rifled barrel and optics mount directly to the barrel.

Out of my collection

From my modest collection of guns I would say, my Walther P22, Ruger Super RedHawk & S&W 686-1. My GLOCK 21 is a work in progress at this time. :)

My 6.5-284 XP-100.
If I am correct Remington came out with xp-100 as handgun first before they came out with the 600 series rifles.

Hunting revolver--My FA field grade 454 Casual

Semi's a tricked 10mm 1911

You asking Rimfire or Centerfire???

In RF, I got a Hi Standard Supermatic Citation with interchangeable 5" & 7.25" barrels = Works fer ME!

Centerfire? = Based on my modest saved target collection, I'd have to give honors to an old S&W Mod10 HB shooting .38spl wadcutters. :D

That's all you get from me!

Hi Standard Supermatic Citation = I want one

Hi Standard Supermatic Citation = I would really like to have one. I have heard "ALL THINGS GOOD' when the conversation turns to a Hi Standard Supermatic Citation. :) There is no doubt it would be a good one. If I were to get a chance to purchase, :what: what would be the price range?? :scrutiny:

Not to get too far off topic, I have a HS Supermatic Citation Model 106 Military and it is ok....Not as accurate as my Ruger Mark III Competition Slab Sides with a fixed 2x Leupold. Now that is super-super accurate. With Winchester T22 ammo, it shoots in the .4s from 25 yards:Seen Here

I paid $400.00 for mine from a retired LEO in my home town. He claims his wife purchased it for him back in the mid 60's and he fired one box of ammo through it. He even gave me the brick of Remington ammo (minus 50 rounds) in a box that said Merry Christmas on it.

I took it apart and it was just like it rolled off the factory floor. Sharp corners, clean, no wear on the breach face......etc....

I am told they go for about 5-8 bills

MY most accurate hands down, no contest, is my TC Contender. I'm sure the XPs and other bolt action hand rifles are as good or better. I get 1.5 moa out of my .30-30 barrel with 2x scope. That's 1.5" groups at 100 yards. Top that with your Kimber...:p Freedom Arms, by all accounts I've heard, is unbelievably accurate, probably the most accurate revolver extant. My Ruger Blackhawks are good 'nuf for gov'ment work, though. I get 3-4 moa groups out of my .357 with 180 grain handloads using iron sights at 100 yards. That's pretty danged useful accuracy for an outdoorsman.:D Unlike my Contender, it is easy to carry in a belt holster.

It is interesting that few people said what level of accuracy they have been able to achieve out of their most accuracte handgun. Come on people, what size groups are you getting? I especially interested in the group sizes for the FAs since my Ruger 454 is pretty bad. The best I have been able to do is 4" at 25 yards.

Believe it or not

Dan Wesson revolvers- maybe it's the tension placed on both ends of the barrel. My 44 mag is amazing. There's a reason they are the standard for silhouette matches. :)

That would be a Morini free pistol used in olympic competition with the correct ammo it will put 10 consecutive shots in the same hole, match after match.

Regular guns??

The other day I purchased a lightly used S&W 17-6 with a 1x burris handgun scope.

I was able to shoot three consecutive cylinderfulls, thats 18 shots into the x ring of a B21 target at 25 yards single action with the trigger guard rested on a sandbag. Its now my most accurate pistol.

+++ SIG P210 +++

due to the slide rails and barrel fit, with a tiny bit of custom work will run with the wilson combat's of the 1911 world. to bad it got beat out by a 226...

For me, in my hands, my BHP, USP 45 and my Colt XSE have been extremely accurate....I have shot other guns that were easier to shoot accurately but they were all customs.

In my stable of guns, my 10mm is by far the most accurate. It has been worked over by Ted Yost and sports a Schuemann Ultimatch AET barrel.

As Ted said when he test fired the gun, this thing shoots like a rifle.

The most accurate gun I own and is my Dan Wesson Dave Pruitt 45 ACP. I own many guns including Kimber 45 but my dan Wesson is by far the most accurate. Any distance it shoots to where I want my rounds to go and with very tight groups. Very Tight pistol.

Browning BDA in 38 super
Sig 210
Hk P9S, 9 or 45
Hk mk23 or Match
CZ99

I have good and bad days with all my pistols, but these are the most consistant.

Regardless of how custom it is or how much it costs, A fixed barrel fixed sights(adjustible sights but fixed in relation to the barrel) .22lr pistol is going to beat any Centerfire semi-auto for accuracy and consistency at handgun ranges 50 meters or less. This has been proven in competition millions of times.

.22lr is an inherrently accurate round, match grade .22lr is extremely accurate ammunition. Even a Ruger MKII with a good barrel is goint to outshoot a SIG p210 from a ransom rest.. In the hands of a competition shooter .22lr is going to be more accurate than any center fire caliber.

If you buy a good .22 like a S&W model 41, a benelli, or a Russian IZH, for under $1000, it will outshoot a Les Baer, or a SIG p210 or X5 right out of the box.

true, but to keep it interesting, lets pretend you want a handgun for something other than accurately shooting tin cans.

The two that come to mind first are:
Fredom Arms model 97 .357
H&K USP 9mm Elite 9mm (6")
Both shoot under 1-1/2" from a good rest at 25 yards. Maybe even tighter if I could see better.
I ended up selling the USP (ergonomics).

i had a s&w 686 4" that could shoot groups you could cover with a quarter at 25 yards when i leaned over the hood of my truck. prolly could have done alot better with a respectable rest. had to sell it years ago to pay the rent. the stupid mistakes we make in our youth...

my 10" t/c contender 44 mag barrel will make groups you can cover with a quarter at 50 yards off the hood of my truck (iron sights)

my 14" t/c contender 223 barrel will make groups you could cover with a quarter at 100 yards off the hood of my truck (fixed 2x scope). i find the 44 mag much more fun to shoot so this barrel doesnt get much range time any more. i dont know if i can shoot it this well anymore.
