What's the most accurate handgun you've fired?

My wife is pretty good at 50 yds. She has won the Nationals 9 times including
last year. Below is her best 50 group. This is seven shots tho. This is one hand
unsupported Bullseye shooting. This is under 3 inches. Probably 2 1/2 -2 3/4.
Want to know the kicker?. This is muzzleloading shooting a patched round ball.

Sig P210 - I've seen a skilled shooter hold a 2 inch group at 50 metres.
Oh - in the other people department I'd have to go with most any service 1911 in the hands of a fella named Paul Poole. He was the NCOIC when I went to a thing called SOT school at Ft Bragg and could outshoot anyone I ever saw or have seen - with any one of the 60 1911s in the hands of students or cadre at the time.

So - put the pill in the bottle - 1911. Guy was a freakin' 1911 sniper.

All of my guns are more accurate than I am;) However, my Ruger Mkiii 22/45 is boringly accurate. It's gotten to the point that unless I'm shooting something dynamic like soda cans, it's not that much fun.

My most accurate centerfire is my newest gun, my Springfield Loaded 1911. With it's adjustable trigger and tight fit it was shooting ragged holes off hand my first time to the range.

No idea how I'm just now noticing this thread for the first time!
Haven't read through it all yet but my initial response to the OP is that THE most accurate handgun I've ever fired was my Ruger Super Blackhawk in .44 mag
That thing would put every round on top of the last one. I Could hardly believe my targets/groups.
Selling that gun was probably the dumbest thing I've ever done. Times were tight and I don't reload (yet) :-/
I will surely be purchasing another when my $$ situation is right

I also owned a S&W 629 as well, the Ruger produced much tighter groups every time.

I'm pretty sure I don't shoot well enough to tell. =)

That said, for me, Browning Buckmark or Ruger 22/45 in rimfire, and Sig P220 in centerfire. All rentals. Also had a Taurus snubbie in .357 that was very accurate, but it had a host of reliability issues.

Nothing I've owned has beat the S&W .38 special semi-auto that is owned by one of the guys that visits a local range. He let me try it out once. I imagine he's in his 60s, at least, but he used to come out there on a regular basis and print very groups with it.

The most accurate pistol I've owned has been a Hungarian-made fixed-barrel semi-auto in .22LR.

The target Caspian 1911 I built myself. I came in second in the New York State Bullseye competition one year with that gun in the sharpshooter division.

I had a jam in the last rapid fire that took me down from first.

Hey, I didn't say the gun was perfect.

2nd generation, Glock 19. It was a range gun and dirty as hell, but at 15 yards, offhand, it was placing shots in the X and subsequent shots were dancing around it in very close proximity. First 10 rounds went in a 1'' inch hole.

The S&W model 52 - mine is extremely accurate, probably my most accurate centerfire. It also taught me a lot about technique, as it's not forgiving to flinch or poor follow through. Great gun though, a marvel that I don't think would ever be produced in today's world.

Targets

Do we have ANY stand up, one or two hand shooters that CAN shoot (regularly) 2" groups at 50 yards, no bench, no rest?
Your best chance is to go to the National Pistol Championships at Camp Perry, Ohio this July 7- 13. The .22 match is on the third, the CF match is on the fourth and the .45 match is on the fifth. Each match is 90 shots.
The best will be there.
The current national record for 20 shots slow fire at 50 yards with a 1911 is 200/11x by one B.D. Harmon. The Xring is 1.6 inches.

IMO.......most handguns out of the box are more accurate than I am.....it's me I have to constantly work at to achieve accuracy not my inaccurate guns.
