One year ago Jaguar proposed a postal match for the Marlin 39 club. It was so much fun we continued the matches and expanded the eligible firearms. To pay homage to Jag on the one year anniversary of his match will use the same target he did. The ubiquitous 3x5 index card. If we are lucky we can even entice the defending champions MalH and JohnMcl to join us.

Target
- 3"x5" index card or 3"x5" piece of paper or cardboard. Any color is allowed. NO AIMING POINTS ALLOWED!!!

Firearms, Course of Fire, Ranges and Positions
-Iron Sighted Rimfire Rifles fire 10 shots at 50 yards from Prone and/or Benched position, or Offhand at 25 yards
-Scoped Rimfire Rifles fire 10 shots at 100 yards from prone or Benched position and/or Offhand at 50 yards
-Rimfire Handguns fire 10 shots offhand at 25 feet (using both hands is OK)
-CENTERFIRE Iron Sighted Rifles 3 shots at 50 yards Prone or Benched
-CENTERFIRE Scoped Rifles 3 shots at 100 yards prone or Benched
-CENTERFIRE Handguns 5 shots at 25 yards Offhand (using both hands is OK)

Scoring- score 1 point per hit then take a US quarter or .952" sphere and COMPLETELY cover as many shots as possible, score 5 points per shot COMPLETELY covered.

You many enter with as many firearms as you would like and at multiple ranges with the same firearm where both offhand and benched classes exist.

To enter
- simply post the details of your Firearm(s), sights, ammo and score. This is a for FUN match. There are no prizes and this is The High Road so everyone is expected to compete with that in mind. It isn't about winning as much as it is about getting out and shooting safely "with" your friends and allies here on THR. Posting any score with Grandpa's old hunting rifle is a winner in my book. Come share in the comradarie and celebrate your RIGHT to do so.

Post your information and score by December 1, 2008

Mo;
Is 25 feet correct?
Is it iron sights only ?

Bought 200 index cards yesterday, shot some today , should have bought more. Need more practice.

Marlin model 60
Federal bulk round nose.

All 10 on the card +10
5 under the quarter +25
so a total of 35 points I believe.

Great thread I am going to have to go out and shoot some more 3x5's.

Edit: Iron sights off-hand at 25 yards

Old Gold, 25 feet is correct. You may shoot it further, just make a note of it. My reasoning was to give a variety of options to shooters in hopes that we would get a big turn out.

Atta-boy Oregonhunter! Thanks for your participation. I guess it goes without saying you are the current leader.;)

Class: Rimfire Handgun

Gun: Ruger Single Six, factory open sights

Ammo: Federal Bulk Pack (Wal-Mart)

Score: 10 of 10 on card: 10 points
7 of 10 covered by quarter: 35 pts.

45 pts total.

These shoots are a good time. I had another card with the .22 with eight hits but 6 covered with a quarter for 38 pts but I took a picture of the one with 10 hits so that's what I posted for score.

Savage 10fp .223
Bauch&Lomb 5-15X
Black Hills bluebox 52grhp
Bench
Score 18

RRA Entry Tactical .223
Irons
Black Hills bluebox 69grhp

Score 13

Savage Mark II BV 22lr
Leupold 2-7X
Wolf Match

Pards,
We've been doing these matches for a year now. It has been good fun. I want to thank everyone who has participated.

If someone is willing to pick up the ball and run with it that would be great. Time for some fresh ideas and new energy to run the matches.

Thanks again - Mo

Let me talk to my nephew, bdduece, and see if he/I want to do do it. I think a format of alternating months of the downloadable palma targets and the common objects like index cards, playing cards, etc would be a good deal. It's much more fun for myself, and others I imagine, to go to the range with a purpose. Shooting the 300 mag at distance is fun and all but shooting the .22 at 50 yards with a purpose is more enjoyable to me...most of the time anyway.

Mo, I gotta say "Tons o' Thanks!!!" for your step-uppedness and creating and managing this monthly match idea.

*sigh*

I just checked in to see if I could download a target and get in under the wire for the December match, and found this thread and the sad news. Of course, it's only sad from a personal and purely selfish point of view.

So, that said, if no one has stepped up to take the reins for 2009, sign me up. If ANYone has any ideas for a RIMFIRE match, I'll take 'em under advisement and respond to ya. My email should be in my profile, but if not shoot it to sadlsor AT gmail DOT com.

Happy New Year, everyone!!

ps - got a copy of Ted Nugent's "Ted, White and Blue" for Christmas. WOW, WOW, WOW! If you don't want to get fired up and pissed off, no NOT read this book. :neener:
