Father Finds Naked Man in Bed With His 8-Year Old

May 20, 2003

Gerard Ramalho Reporting

A family wakes up to find a half naked man in bed with their 8-year old daughter. It happened over the weekend to one family in Mountain Springs out near Pahrump. Police say the half-naked man broke into the family's home while they were asleep. News 3's Gerard Ramalho reports.

The suspect is Donald Felix Keesing. And yes, while all this was happening -- he was refering to himself as the "medicine man of love and peace." The family was too upset to talk about it -- and neighbors in the area still can't believe it happened.

A favorite spot for local bikers, the town of Mountain Springs is little more than a watering hole. The people who live here generally keep to themselves and rarely make the evening news.

"Shocked, Shocked... That something like that would happen up here." But that all changed this weekend.

Police say it started when the suspect wrecked his car in the area. They say he took off his clothes -- then proceeded to walk into the unsuspecting victim's home. Everyone was asleep, but eventually the parents woke up -- then they witnessed the unthinkable. "They opened the door and they determined that this person is laying in the bed, under the covers, with the 8-year-old... with his arm around her."

Authorities are still trying to determine if the little girl was sexually assaulted. Police say when they arrived -- the girl's father had beaten the suspect so badly -- they had to take him to the hospital. Those in the town say -- he's lucky he's even alive.

Police are still trying to figure out the "medicine man" angle to all this... the little girl did say the suspect tried to force a pill into her mouth. She says she didn't swallow it... she spit it out. Police say, so far, that evidence has still not been recovered.

Keesing has been charged with attempted sexual assault and will be booked into the Clark County jail once he's released from the hospital. If you have any additional information about him -- you can call the sexual assault unit directly at 229-3421.

They shoulda said "we have some coffee and sprinkle doughnuts in the car getting cold - see ya in 5 minutes."

Wow, that is crazy. Mountain Springs is located about thrity miles in any direction from the nearest house outside of Mountain Springs. It is on top of the mountain between Las Vegas and Pahrump. The idea of a guy showing up out of the blue and entering your house is a remote chance. I wouldn't be surprised if this family didn't even lock their doors. Calling 911 would result in a very long response time. So I am sure the residents there are well prepared to take care of themselves.

They don't portray the little settlement in a very favorable light. Real Estate there I am sure is VERY expensive and I guess it could pretty easily be called an exclusive community. Howevr, I guess all that matters is that there is a road side bar there which as far as I know is the only buisness there.

Good job, Dad.

Good thing this wasn't Britain, or they'd be charging him with assault or attempted murder or some crap. The rights of the burglar and all, y'know.

If someone came into my room withought immediately identifying themselves, they would get my hatchet in their face. Or somewhere else, depending on their intentions.

I hope my dad would beat someone up that was trying to molest me. That is, after I got to tired to.

Very lucky.
I don't know about you guys, but when I get that feeling that I need to check something out... I do it with a my gun in my hand, round in the chamber, safety on, and finger alongside the frame.

Had I seen this... safety would have gone off, finger moved to the trigger... and the man would have suffered a contact shot to an occular cavity.

Dad shoulda finished the job. If I found a man trying to molest my (non-existant but that's beside the point) daughter he'd be lucky to be buried whole.

Lucky he's even alive? I have a hunch he's going to wish the father had finished the job when he gets to prison.

StLGlocker ....... how disturbingly correct you are Sir ...... after all, he was only trying to ''comfort'' someone else's kid!!!

Incredible eh? Quite surprised he is still in land of living.

But wait! Are we SURE that the suspect presented a clear threat of death or great bodily harm to the dad. Seems to me like we have an assault case brewing against Dear 'ol Dad.

Logistar

(Of course if I'd been the Dad they'd probably have never found the body.:cuss: )

For those who've raised the point of how he's going to be treated in prison - you got that right, folks! I'm a chaplain at a max-security prison, and those on the compound who are child-molesters live in a constant state of fear that their crime will be discovered. If they're found out, their lives tend to be short, nasty and painful... their only recourse is to request protective custody, which means they're locked down 23 hours a day in our Special Housing Unit, in the company of others with similar criminal backgrounds, getting out for an hour a day to exercise in a concrete yard, surrounded by wire (and roofed by wire), with no view except the concrete walls and the meaningful gestures (and words!) of other inmates in the neighboring exercise pods. If you've got a 20-year sentence, this can get awful tiring...

Not all of them are lucky enough to make it unscathed into PC - some of them have paid the price for their crimes in ways you don't even want to think about!

Aye, I've heard quite a bit about how inmates treat child molesters. And they get what they deserve.

If it had been me, the wife and I would be paying for a new bedroom set for the kid, as I doubt I'd be able to clean ole' medicine man's blood out of the sheets and off the walls.

I hope he likes the taste of a pillow, as I have a feeling he'll have his face buried in one as he screams in pain once he gets inside the prison walls.

Assault Charge??

I hope not, the guy was in his right to defend his daughter against an ADULT, bigger, stronger, half naked, under the covers with an 8 y/o, whom tried to give her a pill.

I'm allowed to use deadly force If I'm in fear of my life, I may also use in the stoppage of someone whom is commiting lethal force against another person. In the stoppage of a felony, sexual assault, rape, arson, murder.

Sounds dead to rights on my end.

I'm wondering who bothered to call Metro......

"town"??? A village would be an exaggeration....

Sheesh; just goes to show ya what can happen to criminals without the po-po around to protect them....:D
