I want to thank everyone for all of the comments about LO. I read every one and they really help me to make the story better. I know that the chapters are coming slower now, but it is more difficult to write as I get closer to the end. Thank you all for sticking with me.

This has been the best story I have read. I won't be able to die happy untill I read the end of this story.
Edit: Excellant. I just read it over lunch. That was absolutely great. I am deffinately getting more and more excited as the chapters keep coming. Keep it up.

I suppose you could delay the big showdown a while longer with recounts of the other disasters/attacks with mealtime story telling. This serves to make the bad guy more deserving of a bad end while pumping up the goodguys and the readers. I'd happily wait several more chapters in a few small action-packed flash back while the counter attack plan forms.
I think using the national guard in the showdown might be too much like ex machina (spell?). I predict your preference will be to get help from the existing developed characters. Then a sneak attack by the goodguys turns into a force on force with heavy losses. (hmm, cavalry charge? Air cover?) I'd presonally end the story with the death of the main character at the cusp of an assured victory but that deviates from the happy ending that we all root for.

I finished chapter 66 yesterday and I'm thirsty for more! The story is really captivating and causes me to think about my own preparations and relationships within my subdivision/neighborhood.
I laughed, I (almost) cried, it moved me. I would LOVE to read more. Paperback would be excellent.
